Salary Details The academic year salary for NTT Lecturer (Assistant Professor) will not be less than $82,110, based on the most recent collective bargaining agreement between the faculty union (AAUP-AFT) and Rutgers University.

Posting Summary
The Program in Comparative Literature at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure-track Lecturer (Assistant Professor) position beginning September 1, 2026. The position is a full-time non-renewable one-year contract. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Teaching duties include two three-credit courses per semester for the Program in Comparative Literature and one three-credit course per semester for the Department of American Studies. The applicant should have experience teaching courses at the college level and Ph.D. in hand required at time of appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate introductory courses in literary theory, literature across borders, and comparative survey courses for majors and non-majors, as well as courses in the lecturer's areas of expertise. Preferred consideration will be given to candidates specializing in late-19th to contemporary literatures and cultures in multiple languages, with demonstrable expertise in postcolonial and decolonial studies, U.S. Latinx and Chicanx literature, media and popular culture, translation theory, and rhetorical theory.
