Overview
The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (formerly Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies) is undergoing dynamic and transformative growth. The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies is one of the nation's leading tobacco focused research centers and its faculty have received over $50 million in extramural funding over the past two decades. The Institute's efforts are focused on their mission of reducing and ultimately eliminating, tobacco-related morbidity and mortality.

Five Centers or Programs currently operate at the Institute including a Tobacco Center for Regulatory Science, the Center of Excellence for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco, the Tobacco Dependence Program, a Tobacco Industry Marketing Program, and a Tobacco Control Law & Policy Resource Center.
Posting Summary
Rutgers Institute for Nicotine & Tobacco Studies, located in New Brunswick, NJ is seeking a Program Support Coordinator. This position coordinates faculty related operations for the Office of the Director, including faculty recruitment, annual evaluations, reappointments and promotions, awards and mentoring committee. The position provides administrative support to Institute Directors to provide the highest level of service to support Institute faculty.

Duties include:

  • Provides administrative support to Institute Director, Deputy Director, Associate and Assistant Directors for faculty related activities.
  • Meets regularly with Institute Leadership to discuss current issues and problem-solving strategies for Institute including completing current projects in order of priority.
  • Responsible for coordinating and providing administrative and analytical services related to faculty affairs for the Office of the Director; Oversees day-to-day operations for smooth functioning.
  • In collaboration with partner schools/department, facilitates compliance with all procedures and coordinates timely completion of all aspects of the hiring process and onboarding.
  • Stays current for faculty affairs policy changes and implementing and communicating them accordingly.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Institute and partner schools/departments and other administrative units such as Rutgers Health Faculty Affairs, and Human Resources, resolving problems and responding to inquiries that arise.

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent (4 years full time) relevant professional level administrative experience.
  • Plus three years of relevant professional level work experience in an administrative function.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional aptitude for using Microsoft office computer programs

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with facilitating faculty affairs
