Summary


We have a current opportunity for a Supervisor, Spacecraft AI&T (Assembly, Integration & Test) Technician Lead, located at our facilities in Albuquerque, NM. In this role, you will oversee the hands-on, as well assist engineers in the manufacture, assembly, integration, and testing of prototype and flight hardware while providing day-to-day leadership to a team of technicians supporting spacecraft development programs. Responsible for setting up and operating equipment, and assembly and test of hardware, while adhering to pre-established guidelines and specifications. Relies on knowledge of the field, judgment and previous experience to perform the functions of the job. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Works independently and under limited supervision and engineering guidance within the scope of projects. Requires experience and knowledge of industry standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the fields of aerospace, engineering and/or science.


Responsibilities


  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of AI&T technicians.
  • Plan and assign daily tasks and ensure alignment with schedules.
  • Provide technical direction, training, and performance feedback.
  • Promote safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Fabrication and validation of critical flight hardware, including mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, and flight Ground Support Equipment; per associated flight drawings, procedures, quality standards and internal training.
  • Support engineers in flight / prototype hardware manufacture / test infrastructure development, documentation of assembly, test procedures and other specified tasks.
  • Identify and communicate non-conformances to engineering and quality assurance.
  • Work with facilities and maintenance to ensure that production equipment is maintained and repaired in a timely manner.
  • Work with manufacturing engineering to optimize manufacturing orders and ensure process instructions are understood.
  • Perform manufacturing assembly procedures, rework, and repair on spaceflight hardware.
  • Identify faulty parts during the assembly process.
  • Model exemplary professional conduct as a representative of Redwire.



Ideal Experience



  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent plus advanced training.
  • 6+ years aerospace or spacecraft AI&T experience, including leadership.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, good fabrications skills and general shop experience.
  • Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office 365.
  • Ability to stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • US Citizen or US Person as defined by ITAR regulations



Desired Skills


  • Extensive knowledge of the field. Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations
  • Supervisory and team coordination capability.
  • Experienced with mechanical assembly of flight hardware
  • Experience in precision assembly
  • Possess strong problem solving and communication abilities, taking ownership and initiative.
  • Able to listen, communicate, and collaborate with the production team manager, supervisor, and team lead
  • Ability to take direction from multiple sources and manage time to meet daily milestones as well as satisfy longer term commitments to support projects
  • High standard of quality workmanship
  • Experience with sheetmetal, composites, bonding and staking
  • Experience with hand tools, including crimpers, drills, taps, torque wrenches, power tools and air tools.
  • Experience working with adhesives, chemical cleaners, coating materials and other commonly used chemicals used in manufacturing.
  • Ability to work from diagrams, drawings, and detailed procedures.
  • Experience operating electrical and nonelectrical manufacturing equipment
  • Experience in test support, setup and breakdown
