Responsibilities

The primary objective of Global Environmental Affairs is to provide expert consultation in environmental compliance to Eastman's global manufacturing operations by delivering strategic and tactical support that embraces and converts the complexity of global environmental compliance into value for Eastman. In support of this, the Environmental Representative has depth and breadth of expertise to deliver strategic and tactical environmental expertise to Eastman's manufacturing sites. Additionally, the Environmental Representative will periodically provide expert environmental support and leadership to corporate ESG, Sustainability, and Circular Economy initiatives.



This is a part-time position that will work approximately 10 hours per week.



Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Primary technical expertise focused on air compliance to manufacturing sites in North Americawith additional support to EMEA, AP, and Latin America regions during corporate initiatives.
  • Function as a site's technical resource for major and minor PSD/NSR permitting, NSPS, MACT, Control Technology Assessments (BACT/RACT/LAER/BAT), and emissions inventory developmentand reporting that are occurring across multiple state air quality regulatory agencies. When necessary, oversee consultants support for permit application development to ensure permitflexibility and cost control.
  • Champion environmental compliance efforts including identification of permit needs, potentially applying for, and obtaining required permits, identifying permit modifications supportive of operations, and implementation of policies and management systems to ensure compliance with permit and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support the initiatives of the GHSE organization by serving as a global resource and mentor for practices, programs, and analysis/resolution of issues in environmental compliance, data collection,and reporting which may include complex analysis or solutions.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of current, proposed and promulgated environmental regulationsfor North American sites to determine the impact on current and future activities.
  • Develop and maintain corporate environmental policies and procedures. Ensure consistentinterpretation and implementation of environmental requirements across sites as appropriate.
  • Participate in major local and multi-site environmental topic team(s) with complex risk.
  • Participate in the Advocacy and Implementation Team which seeks to influence the development of scientifically based environmental regulatory policies, regulations, and guidancethat both protect the environment and enable Eastman's global operations. The team engages both internal and external stakeholders on strategic environmental issues that impact Eastman andstakeholders.
  • Work with external and internal clients to develop cost-effective compliance strategies for newregulations, growth projects, emission reduction projects, capital projects, improvement projects, and
    operational changes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, Environmental or a related science/technical field required
  • Proven environmental expertise with a minimum of 7 years (10+ years preferred) ofenvironmental regulatory compliance experience including addressing regulatory/compliance issues at a manufacturing site(s), either within direct manufacturing line of management or in a relatedservice organization
  • Exceptional leadership/teamwork skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a matrixedenvironment
  • Self-starter, effective communicator (both verbal and written), and networker with the ability tointeract effectively with operations, permitting agencies, regulators, and compliance officers
  • Technical or consulting experience in other media (Water and Waste) is a plus
  • It is preferred if the candidate holdsenvironmental professional certifications (e.g., CEP, REP, CESM, etc.) and/or Professional Engineer(PE) license(s) in one or more of the states where Eastman and subsidiary manufacturing sitesare located [AL, FL, LA, MA, MD, NJ, SC, TN, TX, VA, and/or WI].
  • Travel:Minimal travel required for role. Execute work remotely from physical manufacturing locations with local HSE teams' support.
