About the Job

The University of Minnesota is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Examiner to join our expanding clinical research team specializing in the characterization of neurodevelopment and neurodevelopmental disabilities. This position is housed within the Center for Neurobehavioral Development (CNDB) at the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain (MIDB). The MIDB has an extensive neurodevelopmental research program and brings together researchers, clinicians and educators, as well as policy and public health experts with the goal of addressing early and adolescent brain health to maximize their collective impact and accelerate discovery.

This role focuses on data collection through administration of standardized assessments, supporting senior staff during testing, and contributing to high-quality data collection across research studies. Work will primarily be conducted in person, engaging directly with families and participants. Some tasks may be completed remotely when applicable. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) and offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth and training in developmental and behavioral assessment within a collaborative research environment.

Responsibilities

Assessment Administration (60%)

• Reliably administer focal CNBD hub behavioral and clinical assessments (e.g., Bayley-4, WISC-V, WPPSI-IV, etc.).
• Administer standardized developmental, cognitive, and behavioral assessments as part of research protocols. Assessments will be conducted with typically developing children as well as with children and adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities, including autism, rare genetic disorders, ADHD, and other behavioral and mental health needs.
• Support participant engagement and comfort during testing through positive behavior supports and strong interpersonal and child interaction skills.
• Ensure adherence to standardized administration and data management procedures.

Scoring, Data Management, and Documentation (15%)

• Score, code, and manage assessment data according to research protocols and CNBD data management standards.
• Provide written summaries of testing results as appropriate.
• Support setup, scoring, and data entry for research assessments.

Training and Reliability (15%)

• Work closely with senior psychometrist, psychologist, and research staff to maintain assessment fidelity and reliability.
• Participate in CNBD's ongoing efforts to improve efficiency and quality of research processes.

Operational and Administrative Support (5%)

• Assist with scheduling, preparation of testing materials, and organization of assessment data.
• Support additional CNBD phenotyping activities as needed, including operations and equipment coordination.

Professional Development (5%)

• Participate in MIDB professional development activities
• Pursue additional training in clinical science.

Minimum Qualifications

• BA/BS in psychology, development psychology, speech language and hearing sciences, social work, neuroscience or related field, plus two years of experience assisting with or administering standardized assessments (e.g., cognitive, language, developmental, or behavioral) in a research, clinical, or educational setting. A combination of education and research experience equal to at least six years may be substituted in lieu of a BA/BS.
• Experience working with children and families.
• Excellent organizational skills, strong oral and written communication skills and computer proficiency are required.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with children with neurodevelopmental disabilities and/or behavioral health needs.
• Experience or training in the use of positive behavior support strategies.
• Interest in gaining additional training in developmental assessment and behavioral measurement.
• Familiarity with research environments and human subjects research procedures.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate family schedules.

The Center for Neurobehavioral Development is one of MIDB's Service Hubs. MIDB Service Hubs are centralized, shared resources composed of experts from labs, institutes, and research centers across the University. Hubs operate interdependently to provide support and expertise for neurodevelopmental research: integrating data collection, management, analytics, translation, and implementation services under one roof. The Center for Neurobehavioral Development Clinical Research Center facilitates an interdisciplinary approach to brain research by providing researchers with behavioral phenotyping services and consultation, equipment, technical support, and state-of-the-art research space.

Pay Range: $52,000-$62,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience
