Respiratory Therapist 1

Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist 1 to join the team. This role will be PRN to include 6 weeks of orientation. First week is 3 shifts, followed by 2 shifts per week for 6 weeks. First week- Monday (Inova new), Wednesday (EPIC), Thursday, department orientation. FOR PRN- 2 shifts/week for 6 weeks (days will be coordinated) For staff, 3 shifts/week for ~5 weeks (days will be set by department)

Job Responsibilities:

• Administers advanced respiratory therapeutic interventions (e.g., heliox, nitric oxide, CNB, Chest Wall Oscillation, etc.) with moderate proficiency and occasional supervision.
• Establishes and manages basic mechanical ventilation with the most commonly used ventilators with high proficiency and minimal to no supervision. Uses complex forms of mechanical ventilation (e.g., HFO, NPPV, PRVC, transport) with moderate proficiency and occasional supervision.
• Performs weaning mechanics as ordered with high proficiency in more than 90 percent of ventilator patients cared for.

Additional Requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited CoArc (The Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) respiratory program.
• CRT upon Start
• BLS from AHA Upon Start
• Virginia RT license Upon Start
