Human Factors/Flight Test Engineer

LOCATION: Redstone Arsenal, AL

JOB STATUS: Full-Time

CLEARANCE: Ability to Obtain Secret

TRAVEL: Up to 20%

Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Human Factors Engineer at Redstone Arsenal, AL.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Human Factors Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college/university.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an FAA Class III medical certificate.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship is required for all applicants)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Rotary-wing or fixed-wing flight test experience, or experience in a related discipline is desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, executes, reduces and analyzes data, and reports on human factors engineering work as it relates to the test and evaluation of man-machine relationships relative to various combat weapon systems, sub-systems, components, and combat service support materiel.
  • Conducts investigations and evaluations of man-machine relationships in materiel. systems undergoing development in both developmental and operational tests.
  • Conducts methodology studies and investigations, tests, and evaluations to assure that human factors engineering principles, procedures, and criteria are integrated into the design, test, and evaluation of various Army combat weapon/vehicle systems and combat support equipment.
  • Develops test procedures and methodologies for assessing the man-machine aspects of Army combat weapon/vehicle systems.
  • Maintains awareness of current developmental programs under test at RTC and their objectives, statuses, etc. Assists in the development and preparation of documents to serve as guidelines, specifications, standards, and test criteria for use by in-house test personnel.
  • Prepares comprehensive reports of assigned human factors engineering efforts to include conclusions and recommendations regarding the adequacy of equipment design and performance.
  • Consults with and advises management personnel as to the conduct of human factors engineering considerations in design, specifications, test procedures, data analysis, and other aspects.
  • Work as part of a diverse team of contractor, military, and civilian experimental test pilots and engineers.
  • Provide technical expertise with regard to the method of test that will best achieve the test objectives.
  • Prepare/deliver presentations to colleagues, subordinates, and government representatives.
  • Additional duties include test project management for schedule and cost considerations.
