Description

Position Overview:



Maintain a clean working environment for all staff and visitors. Ensure all areas are safe





Essential Duties and Responsibilities:




* Perform service work in such areas as, but not limited to, plant maintenance, cafeteria, production repair, assembly or QC.

* Wrap, pack, sort, check, monitor test and repair all accepted product following prescribed procedures.

* Empty waste baskets/trash barrels in designated areas

* Vacuum designated areas

* Sweep floors in designated areas

* Wash floors in designated areas

* Dust in designated areas

* Wash windows in designated areas

* Wax floors in designated areas

* Clean sinks, toilets, urinals, shower stalls, etc. in designated bathrooms/locker rooms

* Run the automatic floor scrubbers in designated areas

* Mark daily inspection sheets in each bathroom assigned to you

* Fill hand towels and toilet paper in each bathroom on a daily basis

* Fill hand soap dispensers as needed

* Perform/assist in all/any custodial needs as required

* Shovel snow if needed

* Paint designated areas if needed

* During shutdown/slow times, may be required to work in other capacities in Facilities Maintenance Dept.

* Areas to be covered/cleaned would be the Academy, Sport Shooting Center and the Main plant.

* Work events that the company may have, such as Family Day

* May be called in off-shift for emergencies or extra coverage, due to sickness, surgery, death, etc.

* Perform duties and share goals as part of Participative Work Team, regardless of shift, with responsibility for areas such as, but not limited to, communicating, budgeting, scheduling, evaluating, analyzing, problem solving, and decision making on all issues relevant to the total quality output and operations of their team. Team members may also have input on issues relative to hiring and termination of other team members.

* Must perform other duties or meet any additional requirements that may be deemed necessary for successful operation of Participative Work Team (s)..

Education and Experience:




* High School/GED, Degree requirements, prior experience

* Duties require minimal decision-making.

* Must successfully complete all technical, administrative, and interpersonal training programs to satisfy Participative Work Team objectives and become a multi-skilled team member.

* New incumbents will be allowed up to 30 days to demonstrate skill and ability to perform the job.

Physical Demands:




* Must be able to communicate in English verbally and in writing (basic verbal instructions, simple written memos and instructions)

* Basic computer skills preferred




* Continuous: standing, walking, lifting, bending, pushing/pulling, and reaching.

* Occasional: kneeling, sitting, squatting, overhead work, fine and gross upper body motor movement

* Maximum lift: to 30 pounds and assisted lifting

* Occasional lifting: 0 to 30 pounds

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:




While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions, including temperature extremes, during day and night shifts. Work is often performed in emergency and stressful situations. Individual is exposed to hearing alarms and hazards associated with fighting fires and rendering emergency medical assistance, including smoke, noxious odors, fumes, chemicals, liquid chemicals, solvents and oils.

The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. It is reasonably anticipated that the individual will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens and other infectious materials in the course of their duties.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, except during certain firefighting or EMT activities when noise levels may be loud.

Within the Smith & Wesson manufacturing facility, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:

* Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor

The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
