Summary

The Senior Team Lead will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations. This includes ensuring that shipments are handled efficiently and effectively, maintaining compliance with all regulations, and providing excellent customer service. The Senior Team Lead will also serve as a mentor and coach to team members, providing guidance and support as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Oversee the daily operations of the team, including assigning work, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with all regulations and company policies
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, serving as a mentor and coach to help develop their skills and knowledge
  • Manage customer relationships, including handling inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Coordinate with other departments and teams, including import & export teams, customs brokers, and transportation providers, to ensure seamless operations
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, vendors, and other partners to ensure high-quality service and competitive pricing
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation, including bills of lading, customs forms, and other required documentation
  • Monitor industry trends and developments, and make recommendations for process improvements and cost savings
  • Communicate with management and other stakeholders on a regular basis to provide updates on team performance, customer issues, and other relevant information



Educational background / Work experience



  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred, but not required
  • At least 5 years of experience in import/export operations or a related field is required
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred



Skills & Competencies



  • Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, procedures, and documentation requirements
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members, customers, and partners
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions based on that data
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Supervisory Responsibilities (if any)



  • The Senior Team Lead, Operations, will be responsible for department oversight, which may include supervising team members and coordinating with other departments and teams.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management is preferred
  • Prior experience working with ocean/air carriers, customs brokers, and transportation providers is a plus
  • Experience with industry-specific software, such as CargoWise or Descartes, is a plus



Language skills



  • Fluent in English (oral and written)



Computer Literacy



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required
  • Experience with industry-specific software, such as CargoWise or Descartes, is a plus
