Job Title: General Accountant

Location(s): Des Moines, IA

Overview
This role is responsible for preparing, analyzing, and communicating financial information in support of the organization's reporting and control functions. The position ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data while contributing to the development and improvement of accounting processes and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, analyze, and present financial information to support reporting, forecasting, and internal control activities.
  • Develop, review, and refine accounting procedures to maintain data integrity and safeguard organizational capital.
  • Perform general accounting functions, including journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close tasks, and variance analysis.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and support implementation to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand financial outcomes, resolve discrepancies, and support operational decision-making.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies, applicable regulations, and audit requirements.
  • Support management with ad hoc financial analyses, reports, and special projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience required.
  • 2-4 years of general accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA designation is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Ability to quickly learn and navigate the organization's accounting systems and financial processes.
  • Proficient PC skills, including Excel and other financial tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills; ability to manage a heavy workload and meet deadlines.
