Job Description:

Airbus Robotics is looking for a Director of Technical Programs to ensure that proposals and projects are bid and executed successfully. The ideal candidate is creative and a self-starter who draws on prior experience and interpersonal strengths to foster collaboration and deliver results.

Annual Salary $180,000-$210,000 based on applicant profile.

Your challenges:

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all active projects from both technical and programmatic perspectives, enabling informed and strategic business decisions.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Technical Project and Program Managers, providing structure, guidance, and clear expectations to ensure effective project execution.
  • Drive the development of bids and proposals, including new initiatives and change orders for existing projects. Creative solutions and thinking is required in most situations.
  • Facilitate clear and consistent communication across internal departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Challenge engineering teams to refine estimates, improve accuracy, and meet delivery commitments.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with global customers, supporting business development and resolving project escalations.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement project management strategies, tools, and best practices to enhance team performance.
  • Collaborate closely with team members from various teams including Engineering, R&D, and Production to identify and resolve project blockers and operational challenges.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture focused on accountability, innovation, and success.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and create tailored professional development plans to support team growth and career progression.
  • Oversee the daily application of processes and procedures, including defining, setting up, and managing project workflows, operational systems, and team coordination to ensure consistent execution and alignment with business objectives

    • Scope Management;

  • Support the Project Manager in their accountability to achieve time, cost and performance objectives by
    • Utilizing experience and technical knowledge to spot gaps in the planning, unrealistic estimates, or scope concerns.
    • Analyze technical and industrial data to identify deviations from the project baseline and evaluate alternative scenarios. Recommend and track preventive and corrective actions to ensure project alignment and risk mitigation.
    • Aligning with and educating stakeholders on the goals & objectives of the project
    • Capturing and formalizing requirements, analyze them to ensure that all stakeholder expectations are met, cascade and allocate tasks to the appropriate level within the organizational structure, validate them, and control any modifications to requirements in terms of additions or changes.
    • Cascading objectives to team members and projects within the global project scope, including sub-projects on lower levels and suppliers, ensuring appropriate awareness by everyone concerned.
    • Cascading the vision for the project team and encourage buy-in.
    • Steering the team
    • Delivering reports on the projects' status to team members, upper levels, and other stakeholders by providing adequate indicators and analysis (KPI, Dashboard, etc.).
    • Defining and organizing the closure of different projects within the global project scope, each phase of the project, and ensuring the transfer of project results, status, and outstanding actions (lessons learned, best practices, knowledge transfer, etc.) to new project organization/new actors as well as to ramp down project members and their transfer to other posts.

Required

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field or combination of degree and equivalent experience is required.

Travel Required:

Experience:

Required

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in managing technical organizations or highly complex technical projects.
  • Strong technical background in Engineering or past management experience delivering highly technical products to customers.
  • Prior experience with at least one major transformational business project involving complexity.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring a project management team in an engineering environment.
  • Aerospace and/or Automation experience is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

Required

  • Ability to deploy Project Management processes, methods, and tools.
  • Work effectively in a highly matrixed and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Ensures sharing of best practices (including feedback and lessons learned), thereby contributing to the development of a project management culture in Airbus Robotics.
  • Excellent knowledge and work experience in project management is mandatory.
  • Good stakeholder management skills including listening, negotiation, conflict management, communication, and intercultural skills in an international context.
  • Ability to recognize gaps in the critical skillsets and willingness to take definitive action to mitigate
