$70,977-$75,301 Application Window Open date: November 21, 2025 Next review date: Sunday, Dec 21, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Sunday, Dec 21, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Department of Philosophy at the University of California, Los Angeles is looking for a Lecturer to teach the PHILOS 8: Introduction to Philosophy of Science course for the Spring 2026 quarter, beginning March 25, 2026. This is a part-time position as Lecturer with the possibility of renewal contingent upon a satisfactory performance review and approval of the Dean. Only those with previous teaching and training experience, and who have a Ph.D. should apply. Course description: Lecture, three hours; discussion, one hour. Study of selected problems concerning the character and reliability of scientific understanding, such as nature of scientific theory and explanation, reality of theoretical entities, inductive confirmation of hypotheses, and occurrence of scientific revolutions. Discussion at nontechnical level of episodes from history of science. P/NP or letter grading. Salary will be prorated due to teaching workload based on appointment percentage.
