Under limited supervisions, Physician agrees to render medical services to patients of the Center in the manner and to the extent permitted by law and applicable rules of professional ethics. Physician is designated as a Medical Director in the role of The Division of Neonatology. Physician will receive either compensation or administrative time for time spent performing administrative duties as determined by the Department Chairman and/or Division Head and/or the CMO.

Neonatal ICU experience preferred

Licensures, Certifications

Board Certified in Neonatology

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participating with other neonatologists in clinical coverage of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and the Well Baby Nursery, and consultative services for deliveries and prenatal consultation on Labor and Delivery.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to assure the safe, efficient and compassionate care of patients and families, and the smooth transition of neonates into the world outside GBMC.

  • Develop and implement practice protocols and evaluate their effectiveness by data collection and analysis.

  • Conducting regular review and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of patient care rendered by members of the Division, including developing valid criteria, performing on-site evaluation, establishing a relevant screening system and reviewing its results, and using objective quality measures in documenting regular credentialing recommendations and recommending necessary disciplinary action in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws.

  • Assessing new techniques and technologies in newborn medicine and implementing as appropriate.

  • Collecting and analyzing data to document and improve patient outcomes.

  • Planning for short and long term needs for personnel, equipment, space and other resources to ensure the continued excellence of the Division, as well as efficient use of resources and the lowest possible cost per unit of service consistent with high quality care.

  • Establishing regular call schedules to carry out the responsibilities of the Division.

  • Supervising professional billing by members of the Division, with the responsibility that all appropriate charges are captured and that the financial resources granted to the Division are used appropriately.

  • Serving as a member and fully participating in operation of Pediatrics, including but not limited to the formulation of strategic plans, CON applications, operating and capital equipment budgets.

  • Fulfilling the objectives for the Division as set forth by Chairman, Department of Pediatrics.

  • Providing reports to the Medical Board and the Board of Directors as requested concerning the medical, financial, educational, administrative and professional activities and needs of the Division.

  • Participating in Hospital committees as needed for representation of neonatal issues

  • Introducing new and innovative programs to assure GBMC's position of leadership on the care of the newborn.

  • Working closely with the Marketing Department and GBMC Foundation for public relations and fund-raising activities.

  • Organizing and supervising educational activities within the Division, including but not limited to training of neonatal nurse practitioners, students and house staff assigned to the Division, and ensuring ongoing medical education for members of the Division, and serving as physician liaison in in-service training of nurses.

  • Maintaining and developing courteous and professional relationships with the Medical Staff.

  • Communicating GBMC priorities, objectives and plans to personnel of the Division.

  • Maintaining professional contacts with other similar programs locally and nationally, including similar programs in academic centers.

  • Implementing and enforcing the Bylaws of the medical Center and the Bylaws of the Medical Staff as in effect from time to time, including any and all Rules and Regulations, protocols and policies duly promulgated thereunder; all guidelines, requirements, and ethical and professional standards of the American Medical Association and the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations; and all laws, rules, regulations, guidelines, orders and other requirements, all as may apply in any way to activities or the functioning of the Division.

Pay Range

$1,000.00 - $675,000.00

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
