Facility Support Technician

The Facility Support Technician performs floor care of the community. Performs trash removal and linen pickups. The Facility Support Technician performs their work duties under the supervision of the housekeeping manager. The Facility Support Technician assists with the transportation of meal trays and set up and cleanup of the dining areas.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Pickup and dispose of trash from several areas of the facility up to approximately 5 times per day.
  • Pick up and deliver linen from several areas of the facility up to approximately 5 times per day.
  • Dry mop and wet mop floors.
  • Scrub and buff solid surface floors or shampoo carpeted floors on a routine basis.
  • Remove infectious waste and properly dispose of it to the assigned area.
  • Observe and report the need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures, and keep assigned equipment clean and in good repair. Keep equipment rooms in a clean, organized fashion.
  • Move facility and/or resident furniture as assigned.
  • Perform heavy duty cleaning to larger areas, such as dining or meeting space, as assigned.
  • Perform set up of tables and take down following special events throughout the facility, as assigned.
  • Follows state and federal regulations, as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Housekeeping Department Policy and Procedure Manuals, Human Resources Manual, and Resident Bill of Rights, and adheres to safety rules.
  • Sets tables as needed including dishware, silverware, condiments and beverages.
  • Clears tables of used items and maintains an overall cleanliness in dining room.
  • Stocks and refills item and supply on a routine basis according to resident needs.
  • Loads and washes dishes, pots, pans and utensils.
  • Unloads and stores clean dishes.
  • Clear, clean and reset your area; make sure all tables have necessary condiments and silverware.
  • Deliver supplies as needed.
  • Vacuum or sweep and mop floor as appropriate.
  • Assists with cleanliness in the kitchen and dining area.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must have the ability to interact tactfully, diplomatically and effectively with staff, residents, family members, visitors, volunteers and other Luther Manor guests.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with residents and staff.
  • Must have the ability to read, write and communicate using the English language.
  • Must have the ability to spend 90% of the work shift moving about the work area.
  • Must be physically capable of performing job functions throughout an eight hour shift, including moving, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling furniture and other objects weighing up to approximately 35 pounds.
  • Must be able to demonstrate skills and knowledge of the proper use of chemicals and equipment used for maintaining finish of hard surface floors and for shampooing carpet to achieve the desired result.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to work an every other weekend rotation.
  • Must possess the ability to organize and manage time, set priorities and complete assignments on a timely basis under the supervision of the housekeeping supervisor.
  • Actively participates in or initiates problem solving in job-related issues. Works positively with coworkers, sharing job responsibilities when assignments are completed and in times of shortage and special projects.
  • Ability to constantly perform simple motor and manipulative skills such as standing, walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, sweeping, washing, etc. for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to frequently perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to see objects closely, discriminate colors, and to hear normal sounds within some background of noise.
  • Transports trays and heavy carts (push or pull forces up to 44 pounds) throughout the dining rooms in Home, Health Care, and/or Special Care areas.
  • Requires frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and/or moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Maintains sanitary conditions in dishwasher, kitchen and dining area as stated by Federal, State and Luther Manor codes.
