The Software Engineer/Computer Scientist shall support the Air Force Seek Eagle Evaluation of Compatibility and Technical Advisory process by contributing to modeling and simulation activities and evaluating aircraft/store configurations to determine aircraft performance and dynamic response. This position will require a substantial amount of software development, maintenance, and upgrade to support aerospace engineering tools. Essential Job Functions: The work performed will be in direct support to the Air Force Seek Eagle Program. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with excellent communication skills familiar with software development and aircraft flight mechanics. This position will require collaborative work with contractor and government personnel in a mixed badge environment. The ideal candidate will have the ability to broadly apply engineering principles systematically within various coding environments. Produce and maintain algorithms and tools developed specifically for aeronautical simulations. Required Skills: Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required. Master's degree in Software Engineering/Computer Scientist or a degree in Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering plus 2 years of directly related experience is highly desired; however, with the right experience, a BS degree with 3 years of experience would be considered. Must be able to obtain a DoD SECRET Security Clearance. General knowledge and experience in the fields of aerospace engineering including structural dynamics, and aerodynamics. Familiarity with aeroelasticity is a plus. Experience with writing and modifying aircraft flight simulation software using Python, MATLAB or similar. Data analysis and visualization experience - Pandas, Matplotlib, MATLAB. Desired Skills: Proficiency using finite element analysis tools such as NASTRAN. Experience with application development with GUI libraries - Qt, PyQt. Experience with version control systems (Git/Azure DevOps). Experience in Windows and Linux/Unix environments using HPC systems, shell scripting (Windows, Python, Perl, etc.). Ability to support legacy software including Visual Basic, Fortran, C++, and Perl. Experience using CFD codes, is desired. | |
