The University of Arizona's Department of Neuroscience invites you to apply for the role of Research Technician II. The Research Technician II will support Dr. Martha Bhattacharya's laboratory in the Department of Neuroscience. The laboratory is focused on the molecular and cellular study of neurite (axon and nerve terminal) maintenance in both mice and Drosophila (fruit flies). The long-term goal of the research is to identify ways to delay or prevent the degeneration of axons and nerve terminals in neurodegenerative diseases, thus preserving nerve function.

| Duties & Responsibilities |
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform scientific techniques, which may include (but are not limited to) genotyping/PCR, tissue culture, plate reader analysis, and imaging.
- Analyze and critically evaluate data, and present findings within our lab and the Neuroscience community. Analysis programs used include ImageJ, MATLAB, RStudio, GraphPad Prism, and others.
- Mentor work-study students and others in performing lab maintenance tasks.
- Provide purchasing and procurement support.
- Perform general lab support tasks (e.g., stocking supplies, sterilizing equipment) as needed.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in the Biological Sciences or Neuroscience, in hand or expected by December 2025.
- Molecular biology, genetics, or cell biology background and/or academic training strongly preferred.
- Cell culture or Drosophila (fruit fly) laboratory experience is preferred.
