Position Highlights The Program Manager, Skills Development is a full-time position for an innovative and collaboratively minded individual to design, launch, scale, and evaluate campus-wide programs that give University of Arizona undergraduates the tools to rapidly learn and apply relevant skills, explore career fields, learn to translate their student employment experiences, and build professional networks. This position reports to the Senior Associate Director, Integrated Learning Partnerships.

The Program Manager will expand initiatives such as Fast Track, Build the Skill, skills development partnerships and platforms, and on campus student employment, with a strong emphasis on opportunities for First Generation students and those in non-STEM degree programs. This role will be a key member of SECD, working closely with our Career Education and Employer & Alumni Engagement teams to prepare all graduates to create lives of opportunity aligned with their purpose and values.

Duties & Responsibilities
Program Development & Management
  • Collaborate with leadership to design and implement transferable and functional skills development programs, including expansion of Fast Track and Build the Skill.
  • Determine and identify high-demand skills and job functions using workforce data and stakeholder input.
  • Work on program budget, vendor/partner relationships, and sustainability strategies including scaling support for on campus student employment. Develop and implement assessment and evaluation strategies; use data to inform decisions and program improvements.
  • Prioritize strategies that minimize disparities in career outcomes for underserved populations.
  • Planning, evaluating, and adapting program performance; may contribute to staffing structure and recruitment strategies.
Curriculum Design & Skills Development:
  • Curate, evaluate, and develop on-line, on-demand instructional content including micro-credentials with employers, vendors, faculty, and internal staff teams.
  • Facilitate in person and remote skill-building workshops.
  • Partner with faculty for course integration opportunities, and student supervisors for on-the-job integration.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to raise awareness of functional and transferable in-demand skills and development resources.
  • Integrate practices into program design, delivery, and assessment that build a foundation of success for every student.
  • Maintain and optimize Career Clusters content on SECD website.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise small team.
  • Provide guidance, training, and direction to staff; collaborate with leadership and contribute recommendations regarding hiring, performance, and pay decisions.
  • Collaborate with leadership to provide knowledge to guide individuals and groups, coaching and developing staff to enhance functional and transferable skills.
Employer, Alumni & Partner Engagement:
  • Partner with leadership regarding revenue-generating strategies (e.g., sponsorships, fee-based programs) in partnership with department leadership, the Employer & Alumni Engagement/Early Talent teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Partner with SECD Marketing to design inclusive outreach campaigns engaging targeted student populations.
  • Educate employers about skills development opportunities, including micro-credentialing, and expand their engagement with U of A students.
Administration & Collaboration:
  • Represent SECD on established committees, conferences, and in professional networks. Contribute to campus-wide initiatives advancing career development and student employment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Complete knowledge of job functions and best practices in industry engagement, career education, and program management. Exhibits ability to transfer knowledge and apply complex concepts in collaboration with colleagues and partners.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience developing and executing educational, career-related, or skills training programs.
  • Experience with curriculum design (creating and/or selecting vendor content).
  • Experience teaching/facilitating in higher education or private industry.
  • Experience using data to assess programs and communicate impact.
