Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an Accounting Staff member that will be primarily responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data related to labor and material costs. This role involves meticulous data entry, review, and reconciliation of time sheets, production transactions as well as material transactions to ensure proper allocation to jobs across the platform using multiple system applications. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, with a keen eye for numbers, and an ability to identify and resolve discrepancies promptly.

Essential Functions:

Labor and Material Validation:



  • Collect, review, and verify employee timesheets for accuracy, and correct job costing allocation.
  • Ensure production data integrity that all associated costs are accurately charged against job production in the payroll and shop floor data collection systems.
  • Research and resolve any discrepancies or issues found in production data.


Reporting & Analysis Support:



  • Validation of job costs, including materials, labor, and equipment usage.
  • Assist in identifying cost variances.
  • Prepare and compile various financial reports and summaries related to labor and material costs for management review.
  • Assist with inventory management and tracking, potentially participating in physical inventory counts.


General Accounting & Administrative Support:



  • Assist in implementation, development, training, and support of all functions of Shop Floor Data Collection systems across company platforms.
  • Act as lead trainer for all areas of Shop Floor Data Collection in all company systems, to production employees as well as data validators.
  • Perform general data entry and maintain organized, up-to-date physical and digital documentation.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial and employee information.


Qualifications & Skills:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as an accounting clerk or in a similar role, preferably in an industry with a focus on job costing (manufacturing).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use judgement in the communication of sensitive information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy with numbers is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (spreadsheets, data analysis).
  • Basic understanding of cost accounting principles and financial processes.
