Production Operator

Huntsman is seeking a Production Operator supporting the Advanced Materials Division located in Los Angeles, CA. This position will report to the Production Supervisor.

Job Scope

This role involves operating plant equipment and chemical processes safely and efficiently to support production output. The Production Operator will gain an in-depth understanding of the production process and its supporting operations, applying that knowledge to achieve efficient, high-quality results while maintaining a safe work environment.

In summary, as the Production Operator, you will:
  • Safely handle chemicals and chemical processing equipment (vessels, mixers, reactors, dischargers, etc.) for the manufacture of epoxy and polyurethane formulations.

  • Follow precise instructions, both written and verbal, and adhere to all safety precautions and PPE requirements.

  • Operate processes involving heating, cooling, vacuum, pressure, nitrogen purging, and exothermic reactions.

  • Perform housekeeping, clean equipment and tools, and handle materials including drums using a forklift.

  • Work independently and as part of a team to complete tasks assigned by the Supervisor or Lead Operator.

  • Participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives and complete company-required training programs.

  • Assist in achieving Huntsman company goals and operational objectives.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education required: High School diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Experience required: Minimum of 3+ years of related experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably a chemical formulation plant.

  • Must be cleared by state and federal authorities to work with controlled chemicals utilized at the site.

  • Willing and able to work any of the three shifts (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) based on business needs.

Skills and knowledge

  • Strong commitment to safety, accuracy, and quality.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work effectively under supervision.

  • Proven teamwork, problem-solving, and time management skills.

  • Working knowledge of basic mathematics and science/engineering principles.

  • Computer literacy and familiarity with manufacturing reporting systems.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with epoxy or polyurethane formulations.

  • Previous experience in aerospace, electronics, or tooling manufacturing.

  • Forklift certification or experience operating material-handling equipment.

Working Environment
  • Position is based in a chemical manufacturing plant requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

  • Tasks include standing, walking, lifting drums, operating machinery and forklifts, and maintaining housekeeping standards.

  • Shift work is required, with 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts based on business needs.
