Organizational Unit Overview
The 1 Card Office is a Campus Safety and Auxiliary Services department within the Division of Administration and Finance which serves as the administrative backbone of the ECU campus, providing excellent service and stewardship to advance and support the mission of East Carolina University. The 1 Card Office strives to provide the highest quality services to the university through its use of the multi-faced identification, privilege control, and security access card system. The services provided are designed to enhance the services of the many East Carolina University offices, departments, and programs associated with the card system.
Job Duties
System Administrator for Security Access / Database Management
The main responsibility of this position is to administer the security access components in the campus wide security access control system. This position will serve as the primary security access administrator for Student Affairs buildings, gates, and/or security asset management ( SAM) key boxes consisting of residence halls, dining facilities, student centers, transit, etc. and as the secondary security access administrator for academic, administrative, athletics, and medical buildings. Tasks will include assigning and revoking access, configuring access groups, troubleshooting access issues, scheduling and provisioning scheduling software integrated with security access system for events, monitoring access control panels and integrated scheduling software/components, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all record management policies and procedures associated with storage of the data. Utilize specified university application or software to obtain and import security access assignments for large campus populations. Set up visitor management sites for external department use of visitor cards with security access control system to be accessed via web-based portal. Program time specifications, clearance groups, door groups, events, monitored alarms, etc., in 1 Card Systems as requested. Create/update security access form requests as needed to manage access requests and approvals for new installations, constructions, department relocations, etc. Routine review of security panels for proper communication with server and import logs for errors. This position will consult and collaborate with higher-level analysts such as security technology technicians to stay up to date regarding existing and upcoming projects, updates to applications, and troubleshooting/resolve technical problems. Send quarterly security access reviews and complete end user changes per audit requirements. Enforce audit requirements while assigning and configuring security access items, removing access due to inactivity, and maintaining authorized approver/scheduler agreements. Assist with configurations and provisions related to university holidays, special events, adverse weather, etc. in campus security system based on campus operations requested by authorized personnel to maintain the highest level of security for campus buildings. Perform routing diagnostics and complete configuration on assigned software as it relates to security access management. Occasionally perform tasks on 1 Card servers to troubleshoot or resolve communication issues, errors with accessing or authenticating web server applications, or download discrepancies between system database and controllers. Utilize hardware applications to reboot or troubleshoot issues related to access, time schedules, alarms, security access equipment, etc. Maintain knowledge of system features, components, and capabilities to utilize in day-to-day tasks and use accordingly to meet end users needs and/or requests. This position will assist with providing 1 Card after hours, weekend, holidays, adverse weather and/ or emergency events support for system tasks requiring immediate attention or response.

Administrative Assistance
Provide system troubleshooting with privilege control readers, security readers, meal plans/spending accounts, cardholder permissions, and remote computer systems and provide support to users across campus. Maintain knowledge of other security applications and their ability to integrate to identify problems and provide solutions. Create service tickets for security technology team/vendors as needed to repair or troubleshoot equipment. Periodically send reports to various departments for review of patrons with clearance, system user access, journal or activity history on routine basis or as requested. Provide training to ECU Police Telecommunications, department end users, and staff for 1 Card applications to include security access administrative and monitoring application, visitor management, security access approval, and scheduling integrated application. Serve as backup to office technical problem solving and issues related to card production, printers, consoles, components, or applications. Work with the Director and Assistant Director to update the Disaster Recovery Plan and create document solutions that solve routine client problems as needed. Monitor system reports and journals to identify credential, hardware, or equipment issues not reported. Maintain and update policy and procedure documents as needed. Support the 1 Card System Director and Assistant Director with other duties as assigned.

Customer Service
Assist with customer service questions and concerns of students, parents, faculty/staff, and affiliates, card technology issues related but not limited to security access, financial accounts, privileges, end user applications. Maintain comprehensive understanding of technology and functionality to assist with problem solving. Answer telephones and return messages promptly. Provide input, guidance, and direction to users and campus committees for campus-wide activities that involve the 1 Card servers, applications, or technologies, primarily focusing on new security installations or updates. Assist 1 Card Office during peak periods such as semester startup, orientation events, weekend move-in etc. with card production, card distribution, emails on a limited basis when needed.
Minimum Education/Experience
Graduation from high school and one year in the field of technology related to the position's role. Computer coursework may be substituted year-for- year for the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Journey level requires an additional six months experience.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Information technology experience related to the duties of the position.
License or Certification required by the Department
A valid NC Driver's License.
