Redwire Solutions has an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor at our facility in Longmont, CO. In this role you will be a key leader in the engineering team, reporting to the Director of Engineering, and leading a group of Mechanical Engineers. This person will be responsible for growing the Mechanical Engineering team to design, build, and test future RF products. The expectations for this roll are 80% technical project support and 20% management of the team.


Responsibilities


  • Manage a team of the Mechanical Engineers to develop RF products.
  • Assess ongoing and forecasted program demand, headcount, and skillsets.
  • Recruit and retain top engineering talent.
  • Provide coaching for career growth and skillset development.
  • Lead mechanical team meetings, hold 1:1's with direct staff, and perform performance reviews.
  • Establish mechanical engineering best practices and standards
  • Improve processes related to product development
  • Design, build, and test RF products for multi domain environments, from conceptual design through LRIP
  • Develop, manage, and maintain a full system design, configuration, and associated documentation - CAD, Drawings, ICDs, BOMs, etc.
  • Interface with multi-disciplinary team members to optimize component and system designs to meet requirements.
  • Ability to travel - less than 5% anticipated.



Ideal Experience


  • B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other aerospace-related discipline with 10+ years of industry/related experience.
  • Experience as a mechanical design lead in development, qualification, and delivery of high-performance space flight hardware for on-orbit environments
  • Experience reviewing hardware development plans.
  • Experience with preparing, supporting, and leading project stage-gate meetings (such as PDR, CDR, etc.) and interfacing with customers.
  • Strong experience with designing space hardware best practices (materials, coatings, COTS, GD&T, NASA standards, etc.) and lessons learned.
  • Experience designing antennas, RF systems, or electronic enclosures.
  • Expert knowledge of SolidWorks; experience using SolidWorks PDM.
  • Experience providing mentorship or coaching of engineers.
  • Expert drafting knowledge with understanding of GD&T per ASME Y14.5 along with tolerance analysis capabilities.
  • Experience conducting stress/modal/thermal analysis.
  • Experience working within an AS9100 or similar accredited environment.
  • Must be US Citizen



Desired Skills


  • Experience leading a team of Mechanical engineers with some training in coaching or mentorship
  • Experience with SolidWorks Simulation, Thermal Desktop, NASTRAN or ANSYS is a plus.
  • Experience with aerospace guidelines such as GSFC-STD-7000A (GEVS), AIAA S-114-2005, NASA-STD-5017, MMPDS, etc.
  • Experience and training in safe handling protocols for flight hardware, including cleanroom and ESD standards.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365, including SharePoint and Team. Microsoft Project experience a plus.
  • Ability to thrive and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with advanced verbal and written communication skills.

Salary Range
$135,000 - $165,000/ year

Redwiredetermines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for our locations throughout the US. We will evaluate external equity and the cost of labor/prevailing wage index, in the relative marketplace for jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we strive to make competitive offers allowing the new employee room for future growth. Salaries will be based on the applicant's level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and internal equity within the company for the same position. An employee/candidate with a stronger skill set will be considered for higher pay.
