   Head of Operations for READY Center

Job Summary This is a 1 year Contract Position
  The Head of Operations will provide supervision and guidance to research and technical staff, ensuring alignment with the strategic objectives of the Research and Engineering to Accelerate DiscoverY (READY) Center at QBI. The appointee will oversee program administration, development, and operational execution, translating high-level objectives into actionable goals and measurable outcomes. The Head of Operations will exercise sound judgment within established procedures and policies to determine appropriate courses of action, identify and mitigate operational risks, and recommend enhancements to departmental practices. In collaboration with the Center's Director, the Head of Operations will manage resources and budgets, coordinate vendor selection and automation implementation, and direct priority setting and workflow analysis to optimize efficiency. The Head of Operations will be accountable for achieving programmatic milestones, maintaining budgetary discipline, and sustaining a high-performing operations team capable of delivering large-scale cellular engineering at research-grade quality
  The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $110,400 - $235,400 (Annual Rate).   About the existing QBI Team The QBI team responsibilities range from running the operations of the institute to managing specific science projects and programs. We have people who focus on advocacy, industry relations, international collaborations and the coordination of matching different labs with financial opportunities to work together  
Required Qualifications 
  
 
 
  - Advanced degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training required with 8 years related experience required
 - Minimum 4 years of experience leading teams and implementing operational strategy in a clinical or research setting
 - Academic background and experience in selected area of research
 - Thorough knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices
 - Strong oral and written communication skills
 - Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills
 - Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results
 - Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers
 - Solid fundraising experience

  - Terminal degree in a related area (PhD, JD, MD, etc.) and / or equivalent experience / training
