Responsibilities & Expectations:

The Business Development Manager for IPS is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and recommending new business opportunities for the Rehlko Power Systems products. Coordinates with functional departments in formulating strategy and leads proposal preparation and negotiations with customers to ensure the IPS Power Systems business unit objectives are met. Establishes and maintains customer relationships and strategic teaming partner relationships.

* Oversee the development of Power Systems residential market to meet IPS market performance goals

* Establish and maintain relationships with customers and partners

* Promote products throughout Power Systems territory

* Build personal and professional relationships with Specifying Engineers, General and Electrical Contractors, Developers, Wholesale Installers, and Institutions

* Assist in the preparation of quotes and proposals

* Provide Budgetary Quotes and work with the Business Development Center (BDC) to obtain orders

* Prepare weekly call reports and dashboards to track and forecast opportunities

* Drive Sales activities to assist Residential Sales in meeting or exceeding sales goals while maintaining profit margins

* Plan sales work on a long-term basis by setting quotas on calls made to potential and current clients, and the potential of sales for each established account

* Attend sales training seminars and Rehlko training as needed

* Utilize technical expertise to call on and build relationships with electrical engineers, consulting engineering firms, general contractors, and other groups within the industry

* Work with the sales team to promote sales within the territory

* Overcome technical and business objections of prospective customers

* Update consultants with the latest Power Systems products

* Support and partner with local engineering organizations

* Write electrical specifications and design or re-design power systems, including gensets, switchgear, etc.

* Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate proposals and estimates, and resolve issues

* Travel to customer sites and projects as needed

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred; plus, three to five years' pertinent sales and technical experience in Power Generation; or a combination of education and work experience
  • Possess good problem-solving skills while being able to effectively resolve customer concerns
  • Highly skilled in oral and written communication with demonstrated ability in making presentations to customers and management
  • Strong self-starter and able to work autonomously
  • Must be able to read, analyze and interpret blueprint, schematics and industry documents, procedures, etc.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the territory
