THE POSITION

The Department of Health is looking for a highly motivated and attentive individual who excels at noticing and identifying details. We have an opening for a limited-term, full-time Clerical Assistant 3 within the Bureau of Health Statistics and Registries, Division of Statistical Registries. If you want to put your clerical experience to use with a team that supports the bureau's mission of managing statewide registries for vital events, this may be the position for you!



DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role you will learn the myriad of corrections and amendments to birth records allowable in accordance with Pennsylvania law and apply this knowledge to provide advice and counsel to consumers on the nuances of specific situations and the legal requirements for each type of change. Customer service skills are key for success in this position. You will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge by participating in training events for identifying and responding to fraudulent requests, identifications, and documents. Your responsibilities will also include assembling data about the type and amount of work performed and completing daily production reports.

Our team will rely on you to participate in quality assurance activities that improve quality of processes for corrections and amendments, and to remain vigilant for the emergence of patterns, trends, or consistent problematic issues. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Limited-term full-time wage position with benefits (Bronze Plan). Duration of employment is approximately six months with possible extension for an additional six months.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to two days per week, after successful completion of mandatory on-site training for a minimum of two weeks. You may also be required to work onsite as dictated by operational and training needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Clerical Assistant 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of moderately complex clerical experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
