| Job SummaryProvides leadership and direction for the engineering materials functions to meet operational requirements in a safe and timely manner, while maximizing service levels and optimizing cost. This role will be supporting the Albany and Baltimore Divisions. The ideal candidate will reside in the Baltimore area, but others living in the surrounding region could be considered.
 
 Primary Activities and Responsibilities
 
 Communicate with customers on a regular basis to understand customer needsManage inventory and third party service providers (e.g., cycle counts, stocking levels, obsolescence, warranty, quality, and packaging) to provide material availability and service to the customerManage the order process, forecasting, requisitioning, order placement, and scheduling deliveryManage warehousing and other storage requirements to optimize safety, good housekeeping, efficiency, and spacePlan materials requirement for program work, maintenance, outside parties, and modificationsEnsure delivery and handling of material by appropriate parties (i.e., union, operations, and third party) to meet operational requirementsEnsure optimal transportation and logistics for delivery of product and services to the customerImprove the work processes and systems to include maximizing opportunities to automate the workMay manage teams of union and/or management (non-union) employeesCommunicate safety awareness, implement safety programs and training, and enforce rules that ensure a safe work environmentMiscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager Minimum Qualifications 
 Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree3 or more years of experience in Purchasing/Procurement, Materials/Inventory Management, Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Basic Warehousing Equivalent Minimum Qualifications 
 High School Diploma/GED8 or more years of experience in Materials/Inventory Management in the Railroad industry Preferred Qualifications 
 Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree3 or more years of experience in Purchasing/Procurement, Materials/Inventory Management, Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Basic Warehousing3 or more years of supervisory experience in Purchasing/Procurement, Materials/Inventory Management, Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, Supply Chain Management, or Basic WarehousingCertified Production and Inventory Manager (CPIM)Certified Professional in Supply Chain Management (CPSM) Knowledge and Skills
