Position Title: Health Information Systems and Analytics Manager

Position Classification: Regular, Exempt, Full-Time, 40 Hours/Week

Reports To: Associate Director of Analytics and Implementation

Location: Employees in this role can work from our Boston, MA office, remotely within the U.S. or a hybrid of these two options. (up to 10% travel)

Position Overview:

The Health Information Systems (HIS) and Analytics Manager will lead health information system strengthening projects related to organization-wide data management and data use. The Manager will partner with care delivery site teams across all PIH sites globally to explore ways to promote digital health system adoption, expand access to and use of cross-functional data and increase efficiency, towards improving the ability of our stakeholders to make data-driven decisions. The HIS and Analytics Manager needs to navigate a range of system challenges and design solutions to mitigate them, while leading a diverse array of stakeholders to consensus on project scope, design and implementation.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Quality Improvement (20%): Analyzes data and develops dashboards and reports using analytics tools such as Power BI and Excel to inform clinical and programmatic decision making and quality improvement projects. Assists in developing logical frameworks, data quality monitoring, and evaluation plans for clinical, reporting or fundraising needs. Provides key support to the Impact & Planning team to leverage data and analysis projects to support fundraising, external communications and advocacy efforts and for broader organizational use. Participates in operational research and modeling efforts and help translate results into actionable and policy-relevant recommendations. Supports writing and data interpretation for articles and other academic publications.
  • Data Management (20%): Plays a leading role in devising effective data pipeline and data warehousing by analyzing data access and use needs and identifying reporting requirements, relevant data relationships, mappings, and transformations. Responsible for publishing and analyzing datasets for stakeholder use. Manages data requests for routine reporting and communications, facilitating interactions between care delivery site teams and data requestors organization wide.
  • Mentorship (20%): Delivers targeted mentorship for colleagues in building dashboards, reports and developing data use processes.
  • Training and Documentation (20%): Collaborates with Data4Action efforts on site training and capacity building efforts to help build technical capacity organization-wide through specific trainings, mentorship/accompaniment, and the creation of educational materials and manuals.
  • Application and Process Design (10%): Leads in evaluating and improving processes and data-gathering and reporting applications across the organization using Partners In Health's (PIH) current and emerging digital health solutions. Collaborates on evaluation, documentation and dissemination of results and lessons learned from PIH's work.
  • Application Support (10%): Provides user support and troubleshooting for various systems such as, but not limited to, OpenMRS, CommCare, DHIS2, PowerBI and Excel, while bolstering PIH's efforts to grow global system support capacity.

Qualifications:

Required Experience, Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with coursework in Biostatistics, Informatics, Mathematics, or related area
  • 4-7 years of relevant job experience

Skills

  • Required: Statistical analysis, excellent skills with database, data management and analysis tools such as Power BI, SQL, Python, R, or STATA. Proven ability to problem-solve and learn new data technologies, systems, and processes. Strong attention to detail.
  • Preferred: Experience with Power BI, familiarity with the DHIS2 platform, CommCare, GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) and/or digital health platforms (such as OpenMRS).

Pay and Benefits

The expected starting salary range for new hires in this position is between $80,000-90,000/year and may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market for the position, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The position belongs to a class of roles that have a salary range between $70,000 and $95,000/year. Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plans then in effect, eligible employees may enroll in a 401(k) plan with automatic employer contribution, as well as participate in organization-sponsored medical, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability insurance, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee's eligible dependents. PIH offers professional development and home office reimbursements as well as a flexible paid time off policy with no maximum, generous holiday time, summer and winter breaks, and a sabbatical leave policy.
