Within the Labor Relations department, the mission is to foster relationships between BNSF, its union employees, and their representatives, ensuring safe, rewarding work and efficient, customer-driven transportation by managing and interpreting collective bargaining agreements.

We are looking for an Administrative Assistant III to provide administrative support to the Labor Relations (LR) VP and team.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Telephone coverage
  • Interact daily with the LR department and Operations leadership team
  • Proactively manage calendars, handle meeting and travel arrangements, maintain department itineraries and appointment schedules
  • Review incoming mail/email for appropriate handling and follow-up on status and responses
  • Process expense reports and department invoices for payment
  • Complete special projects that include preparation of periodic reports, development of presentations with graphics, and record keeping that requires the knowledge of BNSF desktop software applications
  • Coordination with other department leadership, executives, and admins on corporate events
  • Provide additional support to the department as needed, including but not limited to system cell phone support, user registration, contractor support, and various other tasks
  • Provide back up support to the VP Admin Coordinator

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years administration experience
  • Strong organization, customer service, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Must have the ability to work well independently and in a team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must possess above average computer skills using the Microsoft Office Suite; i.e. PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Outlook and MS Word; testing will be administered
  • Strong grammar and editing skills
  • Must be able to handle confidential matters discreetly and work effectively in a team environment with all levels of personnel including senior executives (internal and external)
  • Must be highly organized and be able to handle multiple tasks concurrently. Attention to detail and accuracy are critical.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A college degree, currently working toward a degree, or demonstrated continued education
