The Patient Care Tech, CNA will work within our Observation/Clinical Decision Unit, a 20 bed observation unit that works closely with the Emergency Department's 32 bed unit. The CDU provides an alternative to discharge or hospital inpatient admission for the emergency department patient who may benefit from an extended observation period (generally less than 24 hours). Patients of all age ranges who are not ill enough to warrant immediate inpatient hospital admission but are also not well enough to return to their place of residence may need additional monitoring, diagnostic evaluation, and/or treatment in an observation unit/CDU prior to disposition.

The Patient Care Tech / CNA performs routine and specialized tasks in providing direct patient care under the functional direction of a registered nurse:



  • Observes, monitors, reports and documents patient's condition, symptoms, and reports to nurse as appropriate.
  • Assists with patient care, such as personal hygiene, special skin care, ambulation, transfer and treatment procedures, including enemas, ostomy care, oral suctioning, catheterization, bed making, and sterile dressings.
  • Observes and monitors vital signs.


Requirements:



  • CPR certification required
  • Maryland CNA licensure required


Salary Range: Minimum 19.49/hour - Maximum 30.22/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
