Job Details:

  • Location: Austin, TX, San Jose, CA or Santa Clara, CA
  • Onsite/Hybrid: This role requires the student to work full time (40 hours a week), in either a hybrid or onsite work structure throughout the duration of the co-op/intern term
  • Duration:
    • Spring/Summer Co-op: January 26, 2026 - August 7, 2026
    • Summer/Fall Co-op: May 18, 2026 or June 22, 2026 - December 11, 2026
    • Spring: January 26, 2026 - May 1, 2026
    • Summer: May 18, 2026 - August 7, 2026 or June 22, 2026 - September 11, 2026
    • Fall: September 14, 2026 - December 11, 2026

What You Will Be Doing

We are seeking a highly motivated Thermal Engineering co-op to join our team. In this role, you will focus on:

  • Thermal characterization of advanced microprocessors.
  • Investigating thermal management techniques through both hardware and firmware-based solutions.
  • Conducting thorough analysis and testing of power and thermal systems, identifying potential issues, and implementing effective solutions.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate power and thermal considerations into product designs.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Currently enrolled in a US based University in a graduate program majoring in Mechanical Engineering
  • If you have knowledge / experience with any of the following technical skills (or related areas) and are enthusiastic about this role, we strongly encourage you to apply -
  • A strong background in heat transfer and fluid dynamics.
  • Someone that's passionate about thermal engineering
  • Knowledge of key thermal components and new technologies in a computer including fans, heatsinks, shielding, spreaders, thermal interface materials.
  • Effective with communication and building respect while communicating status to executive level audience.
  • Lab experience and hands-on experience.
  • We will assign you to competitive analysis specifically focusing on cooling, performance, and acoustics.
  • We will train you to be familiar with PC architecture including hands-on system setup & testing
  • Assist lead thermal engineers on pre and post silicon deliverables
  • Thermal design, modeling, testing, and debug of mobile and desktop products.
