Job Description:

Lead the Charge in Workplace Safety Excellence!

Join our team as a Safety & Health Manager II, where you'll oversee all aspects of workplace safety and health programs in compliance with Federal and Army regulations. You'll drive continuous improvement in explosives safety, industrial hygiene, and radiation protection while leading investigations, managing compliance, and mentoring a high-performing team. This role is ideal for a proactive leader with deep knowledge of OSHA, DOD, and DA PAM standards, strong communication and decision-making skills, and a passion for creating a safe, high-performing workplace.

As the Safety and Health Manager II here's the impactful work you'll do:

  • Prepares, approves and implements comprehensive safety and health procedures in accordance with Federal and Army regulations with particular emphasis on explosives safety, industrial hygiene, and radiation protective programs. Directs and coordinates all phases of the Health and Safety Program that provides a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel at the facility. Drafts and oversees ESSP from DOWES.
  • Directs and manages assigned personnel, establishes goals to support the business objectives, provides regular direction,feedback, and coaching to drive high performance. Fosters a culture of continuous learning and professional growth by identifying development opportunities, mentoring team members, and support of training and skill-building initiatives
  • Oversees and supports accident investigations that involve a cross-functional team to determine root cause and corrective actions that will reduce or eliminate recurrence of incident. Implement improvements in other areas across the facility with similar risks. Monitor accident investigations from start to finish to ensure closure and risk reduction. Support proper treatment of injured workers and ensure Worker's Comprensation claims are closed timely.
  • Reviews and analyzes new proposals that require comments from the Safety Department. Reviews and approves changes in Standard Operating Procedures, Engineering Orders, Drawings, Safety Proposals and Suggestions along with equipment, new construction and equipment modifications.
  • Oversees and performs inspections of installation operations - including production, mechanical, material, and subcontractor activities to ensure full compliance with legal requirements. Provides proactive oversight by identifying risks, challenging noncompliance, and supporting corrective actions.
  • Develops schedules to ensure requirements are completed relative to radiation protection, industrial hygiene and explosives safety. Maintains updated regulations and standards related to safety and safe work practices (e.g. ANSI standards) Collects, analyzes and disseminates data concerning the accident experience of the facility. Attends PMR's and Corporate Safety Calls when required.

This role is for you if you have these skills:

  • Communicates with impact and can influence change, persuade others; clearly and consistently gets information across in a timely and effective manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Thorough knowledge of: recordkeeping requirements, injury reporting, the types and kinds of movements and activities that subject workers to injury and discomfort.
  • Expertise in data analysis, incident trending, and regulatory reporting.
  • Ability to evaluate Safety practices, procedures, programs, attitudes, and awareness to recommend methods of improvement. Assist in the development of ESSP to present to the USG.
  • Strong decision making and problem solving skills. Results oriented. Strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to work and influence in a team environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, DOD, ISO, DA PAM, and all other legal requirements related to safety.

And if you have these qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related experience.
  • 15 years of related experience preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional preferred.
  • Explosives Safety experience preferred.
  • Must possess a valid REAL ID-compliant driver's license, which includes the gold or black star in the upper corner, indicating it is federally compliant.
  • A positive attitude and the ability to collaborate with team members is essential for contributing to a cohesive work environment.
  • Successful completion of a background screening process is mandated for all candidates.


In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws,the salary range for this role is $86,160 - $129,240.Please note that this range is not a guarantee of compensation; final offer amounts may vary based on experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on the date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.

* Expertise in: EXCEL, WORD, CADD (Revit/Bentley)
* Ability to wear a mask, respirator, bullet proof vest, or other equipment
* Ability to regularly perform all job functions at Company's office or worksite
* Ability to withstand environmental conditions (e.g. extreme heat or cold, grass, wind, sand, fumes, odors, gases, extreme noise, etc.
