The Molding Tooling Technician is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving molds and tooling, as well as related equipment to ensure optimal production performance and product quality. This role involves troubleshooting tooling issues, performing preventive maintenance, coordinating with production teams, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Tooling associated with this role includes Injection Molds, Injection Blow Tooling, and Extrusion Blow Tooling. Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and perform preventive maintenance and repairs on plastic injection molds, blow tooling, and components according to established schedules and procedures.
- Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble molds and tooling to ensure they operate within required specifications.
- Diagnose and correct mechanical and cooling system issues related to tooling and related molding equipment.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, mold history logs, and documentation for all repairs and modifications (Maximo and/or Profile experience a plus).
- Work closely with process technicians, engineers, and production staff to identify root causes of mold-related issues and implement corrective actions.
- Support tooling modifications, engineering changes, and mold trials to improve part quality, tool life, and cycle time.
- Ensure molds and tooling are properly stored, organized, and ready for production.
- Order necessary parts, maintain spares, and delegate work activities as needed.
- Follow all applicable SOPs, manufacturing instructions, and standing instructions.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and company safety regulations and procedures.
- Provide training to Process Technicians on basic press-side preventive maintenance.
- Operate basic hand tools as needed for general preventative maintenance and repairs (I.E. polishing, cleaning, and general repair/replace of components).
- Follow all safety procedures, 5S standards, and company policies while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives related to tooling maintenance and reliability.
- Provide feedback to management on equipment purchases and tool room needs for growth and capability.
- Flexibility to work other shifts or take on responsibilities as reasonably requested by management and in support of business needs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required, technical or trade school certification in Plastics Processing, Mold Making, or industrial Maintenance a plus. Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering discipline a plus.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in tooling or mold maintenance within a plastics injection and/or blow molding environment. Equivalent experience in manufacturing or maintenance would be considered in lieu of molding experience.
- Technical Skills:
- Thorough understanding of the plastic injection molding process. Blow molding experience a plus.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, GD&T and precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
- Strong knowledge of mold construction, tool steel, and precision components.
- Basic tool cleaning and polishing skills.
- Understanding of mold temperature control, ejection systems, and parting line integrity.
- Familiarity with pneumatic and cooling systems for injection and blow molds and tooling.
- Soft Skills:
- Fluent in Microsoft Office Applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Experience in SolidWorks or related 3D CAD Software preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Focused, organized, results-oriented individual.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and handle heavy tools and components.
- Frequent standing, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery and noise.
Shift: Flex Shift - 6am - 2:30pm core hours - Weekdays; Must have ability to flex shift and/or support overtime to support business needs.

Incentives may also be provided as part of Haemonetics' employee compensation. For sales roles, employees will be eligible for sales incentive (i.e., commission) under the applicable plan terms. For non-sales roles, employees will be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, the target amount of which varies based on the applicable role, to be governed by the applicable plan terms.
