Position Highlights

The Center for Advanced Molecular and Immunological Therapies (CAMI), located in Downtown Phoenix, is seeking a research technician position ito work in the field of regenerative medicine and transplantation immunology. The successful candidate will perform pluripotent stem cell and genetic manipulation experiments in a collaborative lab environment. Other responsibilities will include managing lab orders and coordinating schedules with other lab members to perform routine maintenance tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in and contribute to the design, execute, and analyze complex experiments.
  • Follow detailed protocols and help in identifying, trouble shooting, and solving problems associated with experimental protocols.
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures that include but are not limited to molecular biology, biochemical assays, and sterile tissue culture.
  • Maintain clear detailed written and digital notebooks of experimental design, setup, calculations and execution of laboratory procedures.
  • Assist with the acquisition of lab supplies, setup, upkeep, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with mouse colony management, that includes animal handling, care, record keeping, and performing experimental procedures. (Basic animal care is provided by the university animal care (UAC) team, this position is not required to do routine animal care such as cage changes, cage cleaning, food and water refilling. )
  • Clean/sterilize instruments, glassware, and equipment.
  • Assist and follow lab safety protocols and following established procedures for waste material accumulation and disposal.
  • Train colleagues in the operation of equipment and or experimental techniques.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Organizational and time management skills are essential to balance both laboratory maintenance duties and experimental research projects.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required
  • Minimum 5 years related work experience required.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required with two (2) years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Research experience in a relevant field of study.
  • Experience with animal handling and mouse colony maintenance.
  • Experience with molecular biology (PCR, cloning, DNA preparation) and biochemical assays (protein production, Western blots, ELISA).
  • Experience with flow cytometry.
  • Experience with mammalian cell tissue culture and mouse handling.
  • Experience with basic lab protocols.
  • Experience in complying with laboratory safety regulations.
  • Cell culture and molecular biology experience is preferred.
