About the role:

As a Mechanical Engineering intern, you will report to the Facilities Support Lead/Supervisory Engineer and be located at our Columbia location. This is a paid full-time onsite position for the summer.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Resolve technical issues for Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility (CFFF) and help execute capital and expense projects
  • Apply engineering principles and engineering codes & standards, such as ASME and ANSI, to the design, analysis, and evaluation of systems
  • Develop calculations and reports to document design and analysis results following ASME Section VIII, IX, and X code requirements, API, other international codes, and facility standards and specifications
  • Conduct field walkdowns and construction oversight services
  • Support factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, and startup/commissioning services for equipment and systems
  • Apply procurement engineering and part optimization techniques to engineering projects
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems on existing equipment
  • Occasionally assist with emergent issues and after-hours calls



Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Completed Sophomore year of college
  • Familiarity with the power industry, manufacturing, or chemical plant
  • Familiarity with ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3 criteria
  • Demonstrate technical leadership
  • Interpret and understand applicable NRC and OSHA standards and regulations
  • No relocation assistance provided



We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The hourly rate for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $22.69 to $27.5 per hour.
