Job Summary: The USACE Medical Review Physician plays a pivotal role in supporting the Acuity Occupational Health Services Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in overseeing medical operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality exam reviews for the USACE program. This position requires a blend of clinical expertise, leadership, and administrative skills to drive the organization's medical strategies and initiatives. Reports to the Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO), Occupational Health Services (OHS) at Acuity International. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Medical Review Physician will provide supervision and oversight for USACE clinical physicians.
- Medical Review Physician to ensure physician oversight and medical consultation for approximately 40 USACE Occupational Health Nurses stationed across the United States.
- The Medical Review Physician shall provide medical oversight for USACE Occupational Health Program to ensure compliance with federal regulations and standard occupational health protocols.
- Provide guidance in the form of standing orders and written protocols for services performed by USACE District-level OHNs who staff USACE OH clinics during hours of operation.
- Provide expert advice and consultation to the Government on Occupational Medicine matters such as worksite hazards, medical surveillance, worker accommodation, and fitness for duty and employability services.
- The Medical Review Physician or his/her designee shall oversee the quality and consistency of medical services across all Contractor facilities available to USACE's employees under this contract ensuring uniformity in protocols, policies, quality assurance, and accountability across authorized facilities.
- Provide medical oversight for the vaccine program, AED program, the bloodborne pathogen post exposure plan and the USACE hearing conservation program.
- The Medical Review Physician shall collaborate with the physician review team to ensure standardization of all exams and processes with all contracted physicians and clinics within their network.
- The Medical Review Physician will work with DCMO to provide an oversight of services and the competency of professional staff.
- With current Medical Review Officer certification, MRO services and oversite in support of clients' substance abuse drug & alcohol testing programs.
- May participate in interdepartmental project groups or task forces to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, contract awards, and new policy requirements.
- Supports marketing and sales objectives and efforts as requested.
- Performs duties in a safe manner. Follows the corporate safety policy. Participates and supports safety meetings, training and goals. Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility. Encourages co-workers to work safely. Identifies "close calls" and/or safety concerns to supervisory personnel. Maintains a clean and orderly work area.
- Assists in active implementation of company initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA VPP, ISO, and other mandated regulations/standards and accreditations.
- May serve on the OSHA VPP, Safety, and Wellness Committees.
- May perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Certified in Occupational and Environmental Medicine through the American Board of Preventative Medicine (ABPM). Medical doctor (MD or DO) with unencumbered active medical license to practice medicine in the United States.
- The Medical Review Physician shall be licensed in the continental United States, Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands to provide oversight for Occupational Health and Emergency Missions.
- Strong clinical background required with out-patient clinical practice experience, including standard office based diagnostic testing.
- Proficiency with computers and common office equipment and MS Office products is required.
- Must exhibit strong analytical ability to research and interpret detailed medical information and effectively communicate verbally and in writing with co-workers, examinees and clients.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current Medical Review Officer (MRO) certification desired.
- Dive medicine certification and experience desired.
- Previous experience in medical leadership positions highly desired.
- Experience with clinical deployment and emergency response onsite leadership preferred.
- Experience with dictation equipment and federally regulated medical examinations is a plus.
Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- Periodic domestic travel may be required.
