Position Description

Responsibilities of the Protein Purification Technician I will primarily include activities directly related to the purification of proteins (enzymes and antibodies).

- Perform standard operations as described in relevant procedures. This includes the following:

- Column chromatography via AKTA Pure and Pilot systems

- Upstream process separation techniques such as homogenization, cell lysis, and centrifugation

- Sample analysis via chromatogram, UV Spectroscopy and SDS PAGE

- Execute development and production scale protein purification processes as specified.

- Packing and evaluation of a variety of different columns

- Buffer and solution preparation.

- Small scale bacterial fermentations

- Perform all activities in an ISO 13485 environment


Position Requirements

- Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university and/or combination of experience and training.

- Understanding of column chromatography and related purification techniques.

- Functional knowledge of lab scale bacterial fermentation is a plus.

- 1 -3 years related life sciences or ancillary production experience.

- Exposure to Microsoft Office and SAP also a plus.

- Strong communication skills both written and oral

- Meticulous organizational and record keeping expertise

- Ability to work flexible hours to complete tasks as required

- Demonstrate expertise in some aspects of production. Understanding priorities, being quality focused, and driving to timeline
