About the Role

Salesforce is seeking a Director, AI Monitoring and Observability to lead the implementation, monitoring, and governance of Salesforce's enterprise AI models. This critical role will ensure that our Generative AI models and enterprise AI systems are built and deployed on a platform that enables continuous monitoring and adjustment. You will drive the creation of model monitoring and alerting systems that balance innovation with responsibility, helping Salesforce lead the industry in trustworthy AI adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the central Responsible AI team to understand the ethics and responsible AI guidelines and translate them into technical requirements for the AI Platform and Model Development.

  • Lead the implementation, monitoring, and governance of AI models specifically for Salesforce's NextGen AI/ML platform, which hosts all enterprise-wide, internal-facing AI models

  • Guide data science and engineering teams on the required technical capabilities for continuous model monitoring and effective governance.

  • Partner with the Responsible AI team to translate responsible AI guidelines and ethical considerations into actionable technical designs and implement scalable governance processes for the internal platform.

  • Develop and maintain monitoring capabilities to proactively measure model drift and manage the processes for continuous model updates.

  • Monitor internal data pipelines to detect shifting underlying data sets that could lead to unexpected model outcomes or outputs.

  • Drive the operationalization of monitoring and alerting systems to ensure the highest standards to understand the AI model impacts and provide transparency to the organization.

  • Contribute to the development of Salesforce's broader AI product strategy, ensuring trust and transparency is embedded into product and agentic innovation.

What We're Looking For

  • Expertise in AI model development, monitoring, and governance within large-scale organizations.

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field with a focus on technology governance

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in data science, engineering, technology governance, or a related discipline.

  • Proven ability to translate complex data governance challenges into actionable technical designs and processes.

  • Demonstrated success in building and operationalizing AI governance systems and platforms at scale.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.

For New York-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $230,800 to $334,600.
