POSITION SUMMARY: The Maintenance Planner's primary objective is the planning of all resources to insure safe and efficient execution of all scheduled maintenance work, thus keeping plant equipment in condition to deliver full design capacity and reliability, optimizing assets profitability for the life of the organization. A major part of this is maintaining an efficient preventive maintenance program. Works closely with maintenance manager in achieving these objectives. The maintenance planner will plan, schedule, and coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance activities. Work with plant management to continuously upgrade PMs and ensure compliance with the PM program. Assist with the purchasing function to obtain parts and services for needed repairs and maintenance. Completed work orders both scheduled and unscheduled. RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: Manage Preventative Maintenance Program at the plant level
- Plan, schedule and coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance activities. Work with plant management to continuously upgrade PMs and tasks.
- Assist with purchasing function of parts to perform needed repairs and maintenance.
- Ensure CMMS software data files are complete and current, including equipment tables and equipment BOM's.
- Develop a weekly schedule and assists the maintenance supervisor in determining job priorities.
- Perform inspections, repairs, and rebuilds on all plant operating equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on the mechanical systems, including inspection and lubrication.
- Routine replacement of bearings, idlers, dust collector bags, gearboxes, and drive belts will be required.
- Initiate work orders as required.
- Understand the installation and maintenance of all types of bearings.
- Perform shaft alignments using precision tools.
- Must be able to disassemble and rebuild all types of crushing, screening, and conveying equipment.
- Able to use equipment manuals, parts lists, or blueprints to install, repair, or order parts properly.
- Purchasing, inventory and invoice management support.
- Ensure all inventory parts have been signed out of the warehouse.
Plan major equipment outage schedules
- Plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance crew and or contractors to perform major plant equipment outages.
- Work with Purchasing to bid and procure parts for major outages.
- Develop cost estimates for major jobs and tracks actual vs. budgeted spending for major jobs and outages.
- Develop 1 year and 3-year Major equipment outage plans in Excel and MS Project format.
- Assist Maintenance Manager to develop budget and CAPEX plans for future years.
Identify, analyze and review maintenance problems with management
- Submit and review backlog list with priorities to Production Department.
- Coordinate availability of manpower, parts, materials, equipment.
Reporting
- Maintain records, charts, and indexes. Including but not limited to: MSHA records, Environmental records, and ISO records.
- Post weekly and monthly Key Performance Indicators and trends.
- Report on Performance versus goals.
- Close out work orders daily, inputting history and comments.
Safety
- Must be well versed in all aspects of safety.
- Comply with the company, state, and governmental health and safety regulations at all times.
- Complete and document Workplace Inspections promptly.
- Ensure maintenance tools are kept in good condition, repaired, or replaced when necessary.
- Possess knowledge of the CMMS System to ensure that work orders and checklists are complete accurately.
Training
- Upgrade skills by participating in vendor and company-designated training.
- Train on any new equipment installations.
Perform other duties as assigned. ATTRIBUTES:
- Must have an industrial background with excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret documents such as work orders, blueprints, mechanical drawings, safety rules, standard operating procedures, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment is desired.
- Formal training in the Maintenance Planning or Scheduling function is desired.
- Knowledge and application in the management of maintenance labor / equipment data and use of the CMMS system is essential.
- Good organization, time management, communication and people skills are a must.
- Strong sense of urgency in meeting customer needs.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Access is required. SAP and MS Project experience is a plus, but not required.
- Must have the ability to detect potential problems through observation in the field.
- Must be capable of working any shift, on-call, overtime, or seven days a week, if needed
- Must be willing to be hands-on and not afraid to perform other work assigned to help the team be successful
- Must have a telephone and be in on-call rotation.
- Self-motivated and must be able to work independently.
- Excellent decision-making skills regarding safety.
- Knowledgeable of current environmental regulations and practices as they relate to the lime industry.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Access is required. SAP and MS Project experience is a plus, but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
- Will be working in both an office environment and in a mining environment.
- The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
- The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Some advanced training and/or college coursework directed toward an approved apprenticeship program, technical program accredited degree or equivalent work experience is with SAP, purchasing and maintenance practices is a plus.
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or technical related field
REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE:
- 1-3 years of heavy industrial experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, or SAP maintenance processes. Strong in SAP and purchasing processes.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- 4 years plus of previous maintenance planning or supervision in heavy manufacturing and/or mining experience is highly preferred.
