Brief Summary of Work for this Position
The Cameron School of Business, UNCW, invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Practice position. This is a professional faculty role, initially offered as a one-year contract with the possibility of renewal indefinitely for longer contract periods.

The successful candidate will be a creative, innovative, and effective teacher capable of contributing to the school's undergraduate level and/or master's level programs in the Economics area. They are expected to teach seven courses (21 credit hours) per academic year and produce at least one publication over each 5 years employed.

Additionally, the successful candidate will contribute to service (examples include but are not limited to committee work, supporting departmental/college level events, professional talks, supporting student competition teams, and mentoring), research (examples include but are not limited to presentations at meetings and conferences and publications in field of interest), and impact activities (examples include but are not limited to executive education involvement, building and maintaining relationships with industry partners, alumni engagement) that positively enhance the school, business community, and society.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Ph.D., DBA, or an equivalent terminal degree in Economics or a closely related discipline from a nationally accredited institution.
  • In exceptional circumstances, a combination of advanced graduate education, relevant certifications or licensure, and significant experience at the highest levels of professional practice may be considered in lieu of a terminal degree.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Experience teaching at the college, university or community college level
  • Experience developing courses
  • A distinguished career in economics

Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The Department of Economics and Finance at UNCW is actively involved in our undergraduate and master's level programs. The department contributes four concentrations (finance, economics, real estate, and fintech) in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Additionally, the department houses the Bachelor of Arts in Economics Degree and a Master of Science in Finance. Faculty actively support the Master of Business Administration program as well as the International MBA program, a joint program with international partner schools. The Department actively encourages faculty and student engagement through student clubs in addition to other programs such as Fed Challenge, CFA Challenge, the student managed investment fund, and honors research projects, etc. The department also prides itself on an improving research portfolio and collaborative work within the department.
