Summary

The Advanced Provider Director, for Cardiac and Thoracic Robotics is responsible for the strategic clinical, and operational oversight of the Lee Heatlh robotic-assisted cardiac and thoracic surgery programs. This role ensures excellence in patient care, physician engagement, technology integration, and program growth while aligning with organizational goals and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. These programs provide patient care services with advanced providers and other patient care/administrative staff at multiple Lee Health locations. This position is also responsible for the delivery of cardiovascular robotic surgery patient care through the process of assessment; evaluation; diagnosing; recognition and prevention of adverse events; planning; and implementation. Performs responsibilities in four areas of practice: clinician, teacher, leadership and professional development. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure safe, effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Allocates available resources to promote efficient, effective, and compassionate cardiovascular robotic surgery care, provide input into cardiovascular service line executive level decisions, and keep staff informed of cardiovascular service line executive level activities. Continuously monitors quality patient care through excellence in customer service and performance improvement that demonstrate positive outcomes in patient care. Provides leadership oversight of multiple practice locations.

Nurse Practitioners (NP) and Physician Assistants (PA) are required to function consistently with Florida Law.

In addition to the above clinical duties and responsibilities as a Lee Physician Group Advanced Practice Provider within their practice location, the Director serves as a liaison with LPG leadership to the advanced providers working in conjunction with cardiovascular robotic surgery.

Practices good leadership principles as a director and serves as a resource for all Robotic Surgery Advanced Providers. Acts as a liaison between executive administration, robotic surgery advanced providers, multiple disciplines (i.e. Cardiology and Thoracic Surgeons/ Nursing), and HVI Medical Directors. Coaches Cardiac and Thoracic Advanced Providers to ensure improved patient experience, quality of care and adherence to all policies. Works closely with Cardiovascular Service Line Executives to perform evaluations. Partners with the Chief Physician Executive to conduct monthly meetings, Robotic Surgery committees/workgroups, and other design and support of Robotic Surgery programs. Ensures compliance with all rules, Lee Health Medical Staff Bylaws, regulations and policies. Serves as a role model clinician and ensures professional behavior and conduct is consistent with Lee Health Values and supports the Lee Health and HVI Mission, Vision, and Strategies.

Requirements

Education: Graduate from a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program required. Master of Business Administration (MBA) Preferred.

Experience: Minimum of five years prior experience as an advanced provider with specific experience in thoracic robotic surgery programs: prior leadership experience preferred. Experience leading clinical programs, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams required.

Certification: BLS and ACLS.

License: Currently licensed or eligible in the State of Florida as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.

Other: Must meet credentialing requirements as established by the Lee Health Medical Staff Services department. Communication and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills and customer service skills required. Must be able to demonstrate an interest and aptitude in management and leadership activities.
