JOB TITLE:

Research Scientist, Assistant

JOB PURPOSE:

Research Scientists are academic professionals whose primary responsibilities are to conduct and support research. UW Regulation 2-7 describes the activities that fall into this set of responsibilities for faculty; the same definition of research applies to Academic Professionals.

Serve as a scientific lead and project manager for a new ARPA-H project.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinating technical aspects of the project within a group of junior scientists to ensure the timely completion of milestones with hard deadlines.
  • Coordinating the assembly and submission of monthly technical reports on progress towards milestones.
  • Attending monthly virtual meetings with the ARPA-H Program Officer to review progress towards technical milestones.
  • Identifying problems and communicating with the PI about these in a timely fashion.
  • Carryout experiments and assisting junior scientists with technical aspects of the project as needs arise.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist with invoicing, ordering, lab management/maintenance, scheduling.

WORK LOCATION:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or a related field.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and team collaboration skills.
  • Experience with at least one (more is preferred) of the following: 1. Recombinant protein expression and purification, 2. Molecular biology assays (e.g., kinetic plate-reader assays), 3. Murine models.
  • A daily presence in Laramie, WY (there are no remote aspects of this job).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ph.D. in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or a related field.
  • Prior experience leading complex projects with hard deadlines.
  • Prior experience preparing technical reports.
  • Prior experience with reviewing financial reports.
