JOB TITLE: Post Doctoral Research Associate JOB PURPOSE: The Williamson Lab at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a highly qualified and motivated Postdoctoral Research Scholar to lead genomic and transcriptomic data analysis for an NSF-funded project on the eco-physiological mechanisms of adaptation in mountain hummingbirds. The successful candidate will analyze whole genome and RNAseq datasets to examine population structure, genome-environment associations, differential gene expression, and genomic offset, and will use results to generate predictive models. The position involves analyzing existing data, leading publications, collecting and curating new data in the lab and field, and applying and expanding existing analytical tools in population and conservation genomics, as well as assisting with mentorship of graduate and undergraduate students. In addition to working on questions of interest to the lab, the postdoc will also have the flexibility to develop independent research projects using our integrative and growing datasets, while collaborating with an engaged research group. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Doctoral Degree is required for this position, however, consideration will be given to applicants that are currently pursuing their Doctoral Degree and will complete the degree prior to starting work. Education: Ph.D. degree (by the appointment start date) in biology, ecology and evolution, physiology, wildlife biology, or related field Experience: Published manuscripts (or papers in review) demonstrating proficiency in analyzing genomic and transcriptomic data, or similar.
