GSE Mechanic/Facility Technician

Primary Purpose of the Position

The GSE (Ground Support Equipment) Mechanic/Facility Technician plays a critical role in keeping our aviation operations safe, efficient, and running at peak performance.

The GSE Mechanic/Facility Technician inspects and identifies defective or broken parts on vehicles as well as makes repairs to diesel engines, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems. The GSE Mechanic will work closely with the Facility/GSE Manager, Operations Manager and Line Service Department to provide safe, mechanically sound GSE equipment and facilities.



Essential Job Functions





  • Comply with and ensure accountability for Company policies and procedures related to GSE standards, safety, and security procedures



  • Establish, implement, and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule for site's fleet of ground service equipment and fuel far



  • Diagnose and repair downed GSE to minimize operational downtime



  • Maintain stock of necessary parts and fluids in accordance with the PMS and consistent with guidance from the Operations Manager and General Manager



  • Manage parts and tools inventories to ensure readiness and efficiency



  • Ensure a culture that promotes first class customer service and safety through daily observations, shift briefings, routine audits, usage of Baldwin SMS, monthly service/safety meetings, training, and documented service/safety procedures



  • Daily cleaning of building to include restrooms, common areas, removal of garbage



  • Special projects to keep building and grounds in top condition



  • Facilities maintenance which may include; replacing of lightbulbs, cleaning floors, and other various cleaning and minor maintenance duties



  • Maintain stock of necessary parts and fluids in accordance with the PMS and consistent with guidance from the Operations Manager and General Manager



  • Oversee QC program in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations



  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal customers and business partners.



  • Additional duties as directed by the Facility/GSE Manager, Operations Manager or General Manager



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:




  • Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience in Ground Support Equipment (GSE), fleet, industrial, or facility maintenance



  • Ability to operate a multitude of aircraft ground support equipment (ie: Tug, tow bars, GPU, air start, floor machine, belt loader, LAV cart, forklift)



  • All general maintenance of the facility, to include, but not limited to, plumbing, HVAC, asphalt/tarmac/ concrete hangar doors and sidewalk maintenance



  • Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork



  • Proficiency with basic computer systems (Microsoft Office)



  • High school diploma or equivalent




Preferred Qualifications:




  • FBO or aviation environment experience



  • Forklift certification or experience

Reports to: Facility/GSE Manager

Supervisory Responsibility: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

FLSA Status: This position is nonexempt.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions including extreme heat and cold; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and vibration; chemicals including aviation fuels, oils, and lavatory fluid. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Travel: This position requires minimal travel.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform frequent walking, sitting, stooping, stretching, bending, reaching, and grasping actions. May be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work nights and weekends.
