The Diagnostics Platform team is responsible for the software that ensures the reliability and performance of Tesla's clean energy products worldwide. We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer to help build the scalable systems that are critical to our mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. This team is the backbone for the health of Tesla's energy ecosystem, including Powerwall, Megapack, Solar, and Supercharging. Your work will be to design and build the high-scale backend systems that ingest, process, and analyze data from hundreds of thousands of clean energy assets. By automating the processes involved in servicing these assets, you will directly improve the uptime, efficiency, and safety of the technology that is fundamental to building a stable, renewable-powered grid. What You'll Do
- Architect and build highly scalable, distributed backend systems to support Tesla's global fleet of energy products
- Develop robust data pipelines for ingesting and processing massive streams of diagnostic information in near real-time
- Design and implement APIs that provide critical insights into the performance and health of our energy storage and generation assets
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and operations teams to create a cohesive diagnostic ecosystem that accelerates our ability to service and improve our products
- Drive the technical vision for the future of energy product diagnostics, focusing on reliability and scale
What You'll Bring
- Strong professional experience in a backend programming language (Golang is preferred)
- Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale
- A solid foundation in computer science, with expertise in data structures, algorithms, and system design
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message queues (e.g., Kafka, NATS)
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
- Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (**Kubernetes**) and CI/CD practices

Expected Compensation
$111,200 - $246,720/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
