Reporting to the Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer, the Senior Compliance Officer, Global Commercial is senior member of the Ethics, Compliance, and Privacy department who will play a critical role in advancing the company's long-term strategy and commitment to compliance and ethics by reliably and proactively identifying, mitigating, and managing compliance and privacy related risks across Jazz's global commercial organization. The Senior Compliance Officer, Global Commercial leads a team of compliance professionals, providing direction and guidance and helping to set ethics and compliance related strategy. This role partners closely with global senior leaders in the Commercial, Medical, Regulatory and others key functions, including members of the Legal and Patient Advocacy departments to provide expert compliance advice and guidance to drive short and long-term corporate strategy. The Senior Compliance Officer, Global Commerical regularly collaborates with other members of the Compliance department, to support the company's overall strategic objectives and its strong culture of compliance.

The Senior Compliance Officer, Global Commercial will have extensive knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to commercial activities in the pharmaceutical / biotech space, including the False Claims Act, Anti-kickback Statute, anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, UK Bribery Act, HIPAA, and GDPR. The Senior Compliance Officer, Global Commercial should have extensive experience providing expert compliance advice and guidance to mitigate and manage the risks associated with business activities of a pharmaceutical / biotech commercial team, operating in a global market, including field sales activities, various engagements with healthcare providers and/or patients, speaker programs, advisory boards, and others. The person in this role works autonomously, is confident and proactive in his/her approach and concise, clear and unambiguous in his/her communications.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Serves as trusted, strategic business partner and risk advisor to senior global leaders of the Commercial, Medical, and Regulatory teams across all of the various countries and therapeutic areas in which those departments operate, providing regular updates on compliance risk areas, mitigation strategies, and dashboards evidencing compliance program effectiveness;

  • Provides expert strategic compliance advice and support to the global Commercial leaders and their teams, including, identifying, mitigating and managing fraud and abuse and kickback risks associated with engagements with healthcare providers and/or patients;

  • Serves as the subject matter expert and coordinates and collaborates with the Senior Compliance Officer, Global Policies, Education, and Investigations to develop global compliance and ethics policies and associated training and education materials to support the global Commercial team;

  • Regularly conduct compliance training;

  • Regularly supports and attends global Commercial meetings and events, including sales meetings, advisory boards, and customer engagement events to provide compliance support and guidance and/or conduct live monitoring activities, as needed;

  • Sets clear and consistent standards for compliance support, risk advice / tolerance to be implemented by his or her team of compliance officers, engaged in the support of the global commercial organization and provides direction to the team;

  • Serves as the subject matter expert and coordinates and collaborates with the Senior Compliance Officer, Monitoring, Auditing, and Third-Party Risk Management to inform the design and implementation of an effective monitoring and audit program in support of the global Commercial organization, with a particular focus on higher risk engagements such as interactions with patients, patient advocacy groups, and healthcare providers;

  • Serves as a key member of the Ethics and Compliance lead team, coordinating with other lead team members to advance the department's goals and objectives and to drive consistency in the approach to compliance and ethics across the company;

  • Stays informed on new laws, regulations, and industry trends affecting the company and ensures that those new developments are appropriately reflected in the compliance controls for the global Commercial organization;

  • Coordinates and collaborates with members of the Legal department supporting the global Commercial organization;

  • Willingly assists Ethics and Compliance department colleagues with projects and activities in areas outside of his/her primary areas of responsibility as needed to achieve corporate objectives, contribute to a collegial atmosphere and balance workloads.

Requirements of this position include:

  • 10 - 12 years of relevant compliance experience, supporting pharmaceutical or bio-tech companies with at least 5 years of experience supporting global commercial organizations;

  • Law degree preferred, but not required;

  • Solid judgment and business acumen and understanding of commercial strategies and the ability to assess compliance risks and mitigation strategies in that context;

  • Extensive experience advising senior global Commercial leaders;

  • Solid understanding of laws and regulations governing the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry with experience in supporting global pharmaceutical company operations;

  • Experience working in a business environment across multiple functions and geographies, with high level of responsiveness and with a strong customer service orientation;

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, enthusiastic, self-motivated, efficient, able to handle heavy workload, able to proactively identify short and mid-term business needs to develop strategies and to manage responsibilities independently as well as facilitate teamwork;

  • Able to work accurately with an appropriate sense of urgency and function effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment;

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including diplomacy, flexibility and collaboration and the ability to interface effectively throughout all levels of the organization as well as with external parties, and adaptable to circumstances and variety of cultures;

  • 20-30% Travel required.

Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we strive to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. For this role, the full and complete base pay range is: $230,400.00 - $345,600.00

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, and other pertinent factors. The goal is to ensure fair and competitive compensation aligned with the candidate's expertise and contributions, within the established pay framework and our Total Compensation philosophy. Internal equity considerations will also influence individual base pay decisions. This range will be reviewed on a regular basis.

At Jazz, your base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate may also be eligible for a discretionary annual cash bonus or incentive compensation (depending on the role), in accordance with the terms of the Company's Global Cash Bonus Plan or Incentive Compensation Plan, as well as discretionary equity grants in accordance with Jazz's Long Term Equity Incentive Plan.
