Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Title to work in our Data Twin Frameworks department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Research Education Campus with every other Friday off. You will design and develop innovative user experiences across our suite of engineering solutions using current and emerging user-centered design principles and computing technologies. Apply experience in translating requirements into intuitive interfaces, software and hardware engineering principles, theories, concepts, and technologies with complex engineered systems and systems of systems. Responsibilities:
- Design user interfaces (UIs) across an ecosystem of integrated applications.
- Meet requirements and enhance usability and user experience (UX) through UX evaluation, design, and implementation.
- Develop wireframes, prototypes, and high fidelity designs to guide software teams in implementation.
- Collaborate closely with product owners, developers, and stakeholders to refine function and usability and conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and iterate on designs.
- Apply software engineering principles, theories, and concepts to complex analytical processes and information display and visualization.
- Plan, develop and implement UI solutions as part of solving complex problems and major projects.
- Work to support project plans and requirements, establish scope, cost and schedule estimates for design and development activities.
- Participate in technical reviews for projects and systems at various phases of development and provide recommendations for UX/UI solutions and enhancements to meet customers and management's needs.
- Maintain and upgrade system interfaces, as well as develop new software interfaces and capabilities.
- Create and review new methodologies and architectures that advance the organizations' mission.
- Ensure Compliance with INL's safety, security, environmental, health and quality assurance requirements.
- Document activities, reports, existing technologies.
- Write and present technical papers representing INL.
- Review and analyze source code and system design documentation, reports from users, and other technical artifacts to create reports and present to other staff and management assessments of code quality, the probable origin and implications of defects and anomalies, and recommendations for improvements and enhancements.
- Engage in professional development to maintain technical proficiency in current and emerging technologies.
- Utilize expertise to define strategic direction in assigned areas.
- Review training plans and help lead the organization forward.
- Mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Level 3: Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, graphic design, user experience, human-computer interaction, computer information systems or other related fields from an ABET-accredited institution and 5 years, Master's and 2 years, PhD and 2 years.
- Level 4: Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, computer information systems, graphic design, user experience, human-computer interaction or other related fields from an ABET-accredited institution and 9 years of experience. Master's and 6 years of experience. PhD and 4 years of experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience commensurate with level that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
- Relevant experience using design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- Relevant experience using Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) such as Visual Studio or VS Code.
- Relevant experience with web and mobile design standards
- Depending on work assignment, obtain and maintain Q-clearance and SCI access, and willingness to complete US Government polygraph upon request. Depending on work assignment, applicants may be subject to the requirements of DOE O 142.3B, Unclassified Foreign National Access Program.
Job Information:
The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($93,204-$191,076) / Level 4 ($111,888 - $229,284). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials. TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment. Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Experience mentoring others and leading technical tasks.
- Experience using Jira or similar tool.
- Experience with Agile, Kanban development methodologies.
- Experience with UI technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, jQuery, Bootstrap, and frontend frameworks such as React and Angular.
- Experience with .NET 6 and .NET Core, C#, SQL Server, or similar.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and NET WebAPI interfaces.
- Experience with other development languages (Python, Go/Golang, C/C++, etc.).
