We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Payroll Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, with a deep understanding of regulatory requirements and multi-state payroll tax laws. In this role, you will work with the Payroll Manager and act as the subject matter expert on federal and state laws pertaining to payroll, applicable input/output activities with the payroll system (Workday) and handled related questions. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: Processes and facilitates accurate, multi-state payroll within established timelines.
  • Develops and documents payroll processes and procedures; ensures compliance with established processes and procedures.
  • Calculates pay and processes payroll within the payroll system in coordination with the Payroll Manager; investigates and corrects discrepancies and errors.
  • Prepares required supporting documentation for local, state, and federal agencies, as necessary, and prepares payroll related journal entries and statistical reports.
  • Reviews payroll data and responds to inquiries.
  • Reviews time and attendance reports, including overtime, shift differential pay, exception time, and garnishments.
  • Receives and analyzes notices of salary adjustments, personnel changes, and payroll deductions, and inputs appropriate data into database.
  • Tracks and reconciles certain payroll-related accounts to the general ledger system and/or payments record system.
  • Participates in the development of the departmental budget and assists in the development of corporate payroll policies.
  • Reports new hires to all government agencies and corporate vendors as required.
  • Responds to salary inquiries from enforcement agencies and calculates withholding amounts.
  • Maintains rule and validation tables in payroll system and updates payroll procedures as needed to comply with changing government regulations and organizational policies.
  • Trains on payroll processes as directed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to broad range of payroll issues including garnishments.
  • Expert knowledge of payroll taxes in a multi-state environment.
  • High level of professionalism and interpersonal skills. Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels in the organization and with external business contacts in an articulate, professional manner while maintaining necessary degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and multi-task while maintaining quality standards.
  • Ability to translate complex data into understandable conclusions and recommendations.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in a multi-state payroll environment with experience processing payroll taxes preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, EQUIPMENT USAGE, WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Position is relatively sedentary in a normal office administrative environment involving minimum exposure to physical risks. Will use office equipment such as a computer/laptop, monitor, keyboard, and a general workstation set-up.
