Residential RN (Part Time; 20 hours) Wilson/ Jellison House

Shift- 1st

The Residential Registered Nurse will provide consultation and direct support to two 16-bed programs: Wilson House (Pawtucket) and Jellison House (Johnston).

Each of these sites offers trauma-informed, person-centered, and evidence-based substance use disorder treatment for up to 90 days. We promote recovery in safe, home-like environments with an emphasis on building strong treatment communities. The RN is an integral member of an interdisciplinary team that together offers counseling, psychoeducational groups, holistic and mindfulness-based stress reduction, life skills, medication management, care coordination, family support, and more.

The Residential Nurse is responsible for the following:


  • Administration of any and all injectable medications, or the referral and set-up of services
  • Supervision and documentation of training for staff to be able to safely and securely supervise the client taking said medications as indicated by medication sheet. All staff needs to understand the process of supervision of clients taking their medications: There is a step by step written process posted in medication book and on medication locker
  • Documentation and tracking of medication: understanding the security process to secure medication by State and Federal regulations controlled medications
  • Awareness of all controlled medications ordered/prescribed including: Medication Assisted Recovery Medications
  • Handle and document all controlled substances according to agency protocols
  • Verification & Confirmation of medications
  • Coordination of Laboratory and Pharmacy consultation and services
  • Provide referral for issues IE: detoxification physical and psychiatric when assessed as needed
  • Coordination services and communication between medical and psychiatric providers
  • Facilitate Hospitalizations when appropriate
  • Facilitate and coordinate ASU BH Link referrals
  • Work with Medical staff doing referring facilities like Hospitals, Psych. Units
  • Attend and participate in morning shift report
  • Meet with any and all clients needing education around Medical or medication questions
  • Work with Doctors and prescribers to secure an maintain clients medications
  • Maintain Medication supervision log book
  • Any issues identified with Medication book needs to be brought directly to the said staff member
  • If and when there is a pattern of identified errors with medication log, this needs to be brought to the attention of the team leader to start documenting. RN needs to sit with this person and train and train again until this staff member fully understands the process and is able to follow processes without direct supervision
  • RN will provide in-house training (work with team leaders to determine needed training)
  • Trainings by RN: Overdose awareness, cost/benefit ratio smoking. HEP C, HIV Awareness prevention, Medication training, Signs & Symptoms Depression, Anxiety, Personality D/O, Basic first-aid, Signs of heart attack, Heat and Cold related symptomology, ADLS
