Overview:
The New York office of Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP is looking for an entry-level Conflicts Analyst to help support the Conflict Department's new business intake process. This position will also focus on assisting with maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the Firm's conflicts database. This position is ideal for an entry level candidate who is interested in learning risk management/compliance. The Conflicts Analyst will be trained to obtain, review, maintain and track information necessary for the Firm to determine whether or not it may accept new clients and matters. Position Specific Skills and Requirements: * Process conflict-of-interest requests. * Gather information and conduct research to assist in determining whether a conflict-of-interest exists. Analyze and provide a clear and concise summary of findings. * Assist with reviewing and validating data in the Firm's conflicts database for accuracy, completeness and standardization. * Assist with monitoring and tracking changes to related parties and/or their affiliates. * Assist with record-keeping of conflict-related documentation. * Assist with the cleanup of historical conflicts data. * Assist the department with a wide range of research and other requests/projects as may be assigned. Experience and General Requirements: * -0-2 years of experience. Relevant experience in a law firm or other professional services firm is a plus. * Strong research skills are preferred. * Ability to demonstrate initiative in exercising independent judgment and decision making to handle multiple functions in a fast-paced, detail-oriented work environment and to adapt quickly to changes in workflow, processes, and procedures. * Strong organizational skills. * Ability to exercise the appropriate amount of discretion in escalating and communicating issues. * Ability to assume additional responsibilities and perform special projects as requested. * Ability to manage projects and assignments while maintaining tight deadlines. * Ability to operate with general or minimum supervision in a hybrid, and in-office setting. * Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. * Must be flexible for overtime as needed. * If applying to law school, willing to make a two-year commitment.
