Reporting to the Vice President of Clinical Services, the AVP provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for Montefiore's abdominal transplant program (kidney, liver, and pancreas).

This role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the future of one of the nation's most respected academic transplant programs. Working in close partnership with the Chief of Abdominal Transplantation, this executive will translate strategy into action, building systems, workflows, and operational alignment to enable program growth. The AVP will play a crucial role in advancing clinical operations, strengthening quality and financial performance, and supporting research and innovation, all while ensuring compliance with national regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic & Operational Leadership: Partner with the Chief of Abdominal Transplantation to operationalize a 5-year growth strategy, expand transplant volumes, and oversee program operations, financial planning, and cost-efficiency initiatives.

  • Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation: Ensure full compliance with UNOS, OPTN, CMS, SRTR, FDA, and state regulations, maintaining survey readiness and accurate data reporting to support national performance benchmarks.

  • Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement: Lead the QAPI program by monitoring key performance indicators, driving corrective action plans, and aligning outcomes with SRTR expectations to ensure program competitiveness.

  • Financial Oversight: Collaborate with finance teams to optimize billing, reimbursement, and resource utilization, ensuring program sustainability and adherence to Medicare and Medicaid standards.

  • Waitlist Management & Organ Procurement: Strengthen waitlist management, donor procurement processes, and predictive analytics to reduce mortality, improve organ acceptance rates, and meet UNOS guidelines.

  • Patient & Family Support: Enhance patient education, psychosocial services, financial counseling, and donor advocacy programs to improve the patient and family experience.

  • Team Leadership & Communication: Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration, accountability, and staff education on the latest transplant best practices.

  • Innovation & Research: Support clinical research and the adoption of new technologies, reinforcing Montefiore's reputation as a national leader in complex transplantation.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate is an ambitious, solutions-oriented healthcare leader who thrives in high-acuity, complex environments and brings the energy, vision, and operational expertise to strengthen and grow transplant services.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Master's in Healthcare Administration, Business, Nursing, or related field.

  • 7-10 years of progressive healthcare leadership, preferably with 3-5 years in transplant program administration.

  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, budgeting, and driving operational efficiency.

  • Proven ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams in academic medical centers or high-volume healthcare settings.

  • Expertise in regulatory compliance, including UNOS, OPTN, CMS, and SRTR requirements.

  • Knowledge of transplant finance, reimbursement models, and billing compliance.

  • Leadership in QAPI initiatives, performance improvement, and data-driven decision-making.

  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder engagement skills.
