Job Overview
The Leave and Benefits Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Marvin enterprise leave of absence programs and federal and state regulations, while providing support and guidance to HR, management, and employees throughout the leave process.
Highlights of your role
Administers all enterprise leaves of absences programs including, FMLA, ADAAA Leave, Parental Leave, Military leave, Bereavement Leave, and Inactive Leave.
- Maintains and tracks employee leave records for internal company provided leaves.
- Ensures accurate coding of employee leave status in HR systems.
- Audits open leaves of absence to ensure requests are moving forward in a timely manner.
- Prepares reports on employee leaves and utilization of leave programs.
- Escalates key trends and issues to the Leave of Absence Supervisor.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including FMLA, ADA, and other related state and local laws.
- Participates in reviewing revisions to company leave policies and resources.
- Provides excellent customer service support to employees and HR with benefits and leave of absence questions.
- Assists and guides HR Business Partners with the leave process and provides accurate information relating to leave eligibility, certification/documentation requirements, disability, return to work, etc.
- Maintains communication as a subject matter expert with HR Business Partners who have employees on leave to facilitate a smooth leave process and timely return to work.
- Communicates and maintains a relationship with other functional groups that interact with the leave process (benefits, payroll, leave management vendor, etc.)
- Works with leave management vendor to ensure escalated issues are resolved quickly and accurately.
- Assists in the creation and facilitation of leave administration training program.
- Assists in improvements to processes and communications.
- Is knowledgeable about benefits impacted by requesting a leave of absence, including disability, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, premiums, life event changes, etc.
- Assists the benefits team with projects and day-to-day administration of benefits, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)
- Extensive knowledge of the FMLA, ADA, and other relevant leave-related legislation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and problem solve.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to confidentially maintain personal information and understand and respect the nature of sensitive data.
